3. I've not had any problems with them so far.
Always a very timely response in sending out the next DVDs in my queue.

2. They screwed me over big time back in 2002.
I've heard I'm not supposed to use Blockbuster, but they have been flawless in service, less expensive and have had everything in stock I have wanted. Netflix did wrong by me. I'm glad it's working out for you.

4. Sorry to hear that.
Isn't that about the time they started out? Maybe it was back in the rusty old days or something.

Glad you are having good luck with Blockbuster.

5. They screwed us over in 2006
The well-documented practice is called throttling.

Their business model is based on people not watching too many movies in a month. At a certain point some customers cease to be profitable. Those customers get delayed shipments and the stuff they really want to see never shows up in their mailbox.

6. I'll watch for that.
So far, that hasn't been the case, but then, I have a pretty full cue, watch stuff pretty soon after I get it, and send it back as soon as I'm done.

7. I like blockbuster. Take them down to the store & get a new one.
They ship the next one on your queue when you return it but you can get another free one while you are waiting for the next to arrive. I could watch 25 dvd's a month if I had the time. They also give you two extra coupons for either a dvd movie or a video game rental every month.

9. we've used NETFLIX for about 3 years now
with mixed results

at first we would get the movies within 3-4 days after returning the previous ones (mailed them back on a Monday, get new ones by Thursday-Friday)

then it became 5 days, not receiving new ones until Saturday

and then bumped to a week or more after mailing them back

don't know what's up with them lately - but all of a sudden we are getting the movies quicker, back to the 3-4 day turn around

could be because we are returning them through the local post office, as opposed to the post office in the town where my partner use to work? can't see where this would make much of a difference because mail from either of these post offices go through the same central one in the next town over. Who knows?

we did consider dumping NETFLIX, and going with blockbuster, but we're not too keen on blockbuster. I did do a google search for similar services, and while the pricing is comparable - the selections are not as extensive.

as I understand it - NETFLIX and Blockbuster both have a clause in their TOS which says they can delay shipment for "heavy users". (the other places I looked at also have similar clauses)

we have considered playing "the game" of canceling subscriptions in one of our names, and opening up a new subscription in the other's name. Or switching between Netflix and Blockbuster periodically.

11. I got my movies today too!
I usually mail on Monday and get movies on Thursday.

I was kinda bummed because I thought I wouldn't see anything until Friday or Saturday because of the mail holiday.

But my movies were in the mail TODAY! Well Yesterday. (Wed)

12. Same thing happened to me
I thought Netflix would be swamped and there was no way we'd get our movies in time, but we're all loaded up for the holiday.

Netflix rox.
