Ran my 5K
32:47, pace 10:35, 34th in division (F 40-44.) Not bad I guess. About the same as the last 5K I ran 12 years ago.

Happy Thanksgiving!

1. Great performance...
...particularly on a day when most of us are too stuffed to move.

2. Thanks!
Got that out of the way early, so that I can become too stuffed to move.

10. dude, you're horny today
I saw your "cousins" in that other thread. Must be the spices in the pumpkin pie?

If I run a marathon it'll be in one of those li'l teeny-tiny outfits & I'll post pics, promise.

Wasn't sure what to expect--it's been a long time! But all that swimming, and a bit of running :-) , has paid off!

12. OUTSTANDING
I used to run all the time but the legs have gotten a little stiff and a little heavy. You keep collecting those numbers.

Your local masters swim club would love to meet you!

Thanks for the encouragement! It is an honor to be complimented by the one & only BOSSHOG.

15. Hey
thanks very much for the suggestion about swimming. I never thought of that. I do have trouble with my knees and ankles, especially in colder weather. My wife runs the occasional 5k. I enter as well but just for the T-shirt and the after race festivities which are usually quite the functions in and around New Orleans. We also volunteer to hand out water and act the clowns along a local marathon.

FYI: I've attached the New Orleans Track Club Website for your perusal.

23. If you've got a nearby masters club
check 'em out. It's a lot of fun. Like running, swimming laps is meditative. I just look at the bottom of the pool, feel the water, adjust my motions, and think about stuff.

14. Congratulations!
That's a pretty solid time, even more so if it's what you ran 12 years ago. Now if you can maintain that time, eventually you'll be the age group record holder!

I'm getting back into running myself, at age 45. I used to run alot, but pretty much stopped about 10 years ago. It's a bit of a struggle back.

21. Phoo, tell me about it
It's not easy. Take it slow.

Swimming gave me a real leg up, so to speak. When I started to run again I was in pain after a mile. After swimming for a couple of months I found I could run 3 1/2 miles with just a couple of walk breaks after a hill! I was amazed!

I apologize for the gratuitous ZZ Top reference. Sometimes I can't help myself.

Great pic up-thread BTW
