Random skills
Because of the class i'm teaching right now, i just learned how to dissect and point out the internal anatomy of a squid.

Can anyone beat that for randomness???

Also, just wanted to say HI to everyone since i haven't seen your lovely faces (usernames?) in a few days. :hi:

Also, it's cold and rainy outside and i don't feel like grading papers. x(

9. It's not that bad, really...
This class is a breeze compared to my friends that have to teach vertebrate anatomy... then you have to do sharks and cats! :o

10. Hehe... no worries
it's pretty freakin' random. Next class we have to do sea stars, so i can teach you all about the madreporite and aquiferous system if you're interested. ;)

11. I can tie a knot in a cherry stem in my mouth.
I can wiggle my ears.
I can move my eyeballs independently.

And I have 2 webbed toes.
OK, that's not really a 'skill'.
I'm just a freak of nature.

No, seriously, can you really do all those things??? I didn't think it was POSSIBLE for a human to move the eyeballs independently. You must be a hit at parties! :D

13. Ooh, there we go. I can wiggle my ears too.
Individually or together. And I can flare my nostrils (also individually or together) and move my eyebrows independantly of each other. :P

18. Wiggle your ears, or tie a cherry stem?
Maybe we've discovered a correlation between well-innervated facial musculature and political ideology??? ;)

21. I can't do it...
Nor can i make my tongue do that U thing where it touches itself... apparently that is a simple genetic trait. I must be recessive! :D

22. We called the cherry stem thing 'The Virgin Test' back in the day.
Bar pick-up conversation.
"Did you know if you're not a virgin you can't tie a knot in that cherry stem in your mouth?"
And they almost always couldn't.
It takes a very talented tongue.

And then I'd do it.
"Well, I guess that invalidates the test."

25. I can say the alphabet backwards in 5 seconds
It's gotten me real far in life :headbang:

Also I can gage what size container I need to store leftovers in the fridge! I have a lot of different sizes and I can always look at the stuff I have to keep and pick exactly which container it will fill up right to the top! I'm kinda proud of this even though it's useless.

26. The leftover packing skill
is totally not useless! I'm always overestimating the amount of food i have left...

And saying the alphabet backwards that fast should certainly get you some free drinks! :D

I ALWAYS overestimate the size.
Miz t' looks at the stuff and finds a container which EXACTLY holds it, TO THE BRIM!

You are very talented.

28. I can calibrate and tune part of one of these.
www.vintagesynth.com/oberheim/8voice.shtml

I used to be able to calibrate the keyboard tracking response on this baby's oscillators. It's only eight of the same thing; once you know one, you can of course do all eight. Actual technicians can calibrate the entire thing.

31. And like some of the folks here,
I can raise one eyebrow (only the right one), curl my tongue into a U, make my eyes shake quickly back and forth (not very far, but you can see it), cross my eyes, etc. But no cherry stem stuff.

None of this has ever gotten me a job ;)
