My newest poem, redeemed from a homework assignment...
When your joy turns to sorrow

And your smile turns to tears

When your fears rise up against tomorrow

Then will you remember the great times

That we had in that faraway place?

And the romance that created us?

When we remember the vast silence

And all the ways we were together

How we helped each other find our gifts

And how we turned that silence into eloquence?

For we seemed always to be waiting

For something to help us get there after all

Maybe then our tears will have been worth it

As we look back

On our forever when...

My dear kagehime...
Thank you, sweetie...

I'm not actually sure what I really intended this time...

It started life as a sonnet...

I just pared it down tonight to better match how I really write...

I'm glad you found it meaningful, for yourself...

3. ohhhh
Very poignant, Peggy. When I was twenty, I might not have understood and appreciated it, but I sure do now.

4. My dear frogmarch...
Thank you so much!

As I told kagehime, I'm not entirely sure just what I was driving at here, but I'm glad you found it so poignant...

Sometimes, even though I'm the author, I don't understand what I'm compelled to write...

I appreciate your comments very much...

5. hmm
interesting you go from a typical rhyming convention to none at all. the work itself does not feel purposeful. i think it's fine, just not the kind of poetry that i would usually write. i think what it's missing is more concentrated thought.

but then again i like to set up controlling and/or underlying metaphors.

6. My dear RebelSansCause!
I appreciate your comments very much...

It may feel a bit non-purposeful...It began life as a sonnet, and tonight I trimmed it down to better match what I normally write...

I'm not skilled enough to set up controlling or underlying metaphors...

Thank you!

7. i hope you dont think i am being insulting or condescending!
these are works of your own creativity and as such should be treated as treasures. they just don't conform to my personal way of writing poetry. that's a good thing! imagine if we were the same, you wouldn't want that, trust me. maybe i will post one of my own poems one of these days. keep going with the poetry, the important thing is that it means something to you, nothing else. it is beautiful in it's own right and you should be lauded for sharing it with us and revealing some of your thoughts. i truly do like it! i swear.

also, i dont know if there should be such thing as a "normal" poem by you. maybe you are marginalizing your own fabulous abilities? please keep up the work, i can't wait to see more.

8. You are never condescending or insulting!
This is not my best work, and I really do appreciate your comments!

I just wanted to post it tonight, even though it might have been better if I'd waited till I'd done more editing...

You will see more, of that there is no doubt...

14. My Dear CaliforniaPeggy
Eloquent is the word here.............:bounce: :hi:

"The eternal, never-ceasing search for knowledge often leads to dark and dangerous places. Sometimes it demands risks not only of those who are searching, but of others who love them. These, in their own special way, know that knowledge is never wasted, nor is love."
