Crazy kitten update! (w/ cute kitten pic!)
Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 07:41 PM by huskerlaw
I posted yesterday about my kitten who was spayed and then went insane...

Well, turns out, it was an adverse reaction to the pain meds. She's been off of them all day and she's completely chill. I brought her to work with me and she's been hanging out in my office, resting. Currently, she's curled up in a blanket on my lap without a care in the world. Looking quite a bit like this, actually:

My co-workers are in love with her. She's coming back with me tomorrow. ;)

3. She is!
I'll have to watch all my co-workers to make sure nobody tries to steal her. Such a vast improvement from yesterday!

4. No kidding!
She's almost the polar opposite of yesterday. I think the little bit of soreness she has is helping her realize she's got some limitations. Thankfully!

5. Poor little kitteh.
She probably had no clue why she was acting that way either.

6. I'm sure she didn't
she was really confused yesterday. Now she looks at me like I'm the devil incarnate when I put the elizabethan collar on her. :(

8. A vet would know the best
but my vet told me all painkillers are neurotoxic to cats - even baby aspirin.

Love the cat pic - she has that wonderful silky cat hair.

That's interesting. I've never had one react badly...until now!

She does have silky hair...and LOTS of it.

17. Thanks!
2 of the co-workers actually fostered her when she was *tiny*, so they were already in love. ;)

She's doing very well right now. I'm letting her roam the apartment and play gently with the other cats.

10. What a beautiful baby!
It is WONDERFUL that you can take her to work with you! I really envy you for that ability. I can understand why your co-workers would enjoy her so much. I bet the little girl helps make work more enjoyable for everyone there!

18. Thanks!
Actually, my direct boss was her foster mommy for a while, so she was more than happy to have her come visit.

Long story short, we found her as a 3 week old kitten, right outside our office. My boss and another co-worker saved her (and her 3 siblings) and bottle fed them. While they were being bottle-fed, they were brought to the office daily. Our main boss isn't thrilled with the arrangement, but he doesn't put up much of a protest either, so...oh well!

11. look at those LITTLE PINK TOEPADS!!!
aaahhhh! Cute overload!

What a sweetheart. I'm glad she's OK and didn't manage to pull her stitches... I've never heard of a cat going berserk on pain meds.

Do you ever put sweet olive oil on their toe pads? When it gets cold here, our older cat's pads dry out a bit so I put the smallest amount of oil on his pads -- makes them all soft. Of course, he licks most of it off, but still.

19. I know!
She is a really adorable kitten.

I haven't ever tried that! We don't really get cold weather here, but it does get dry. Once everyone is back to normal I'll have to give that a shot.

20. Me too!
She's nearly back to normal now. I suspect she'll be ready to be left alone by Monday. (honestly, she'd probably be fine alone tomorrow, but I'm going to baby her one more day) ;)

and she knows it!

She's got a great personality too. I'm very lucky.

And yes, I'm glad she's no longer insane too! She's currently roaming around the apartment, being her normal kitten-self. :D

26. Don't I know it!
I've had cats most of my life, and have 3 currently.

This one is a bit different though: first girl, youngest I've ever had (got her when she was 8 weeks, knew her when she was 3 weeks), and she was bottle-fed so she LOVES humans.

I love my other cats, but this one is quite special. Already! ;)
