6. Nope. Can't decide
right now, it's all cats, all the time, with 7 of the little furry f*ckers running around the house, chasing a catnip mousie. I adore my cats.

But, as they make their way to the great beyond and there are fewer of them (provided we haven't picked more up along the way - they're all strays), we might get a doggie.

Had both growing up. Won't choose, and you can't make me! Neener neener neener! :P :hi:

28. Cat, but l like the dog too...
Cats are just easier to take care of. Nothing more annoying than a dog that won't poop. If you have to go away for a weekend you are probably good with an automatic feeder, lots of water and a clean litter box for a cat. For a dog, you have to make accommodations. Plus, cats are more quietly affectionate than dogs, which are more hyper affectionate.

But I like dogs a lot, too, even the nutty one I have now. It's just more stress taking care of a dog than a cat, if you ask me.

My wife is allergic to cat hair, so unfortunatly I can't have one.

40. CAT by far. God I love the Kitties! Dogs kinda annoy me, truth be told.
Cats are soft and beautiful and they purr and they're cuddly and funny and sweet and just the right size.

I hope all dogs have homes and are well cared for, but, to me, dogs are too barky and stinky and greasy and seem to be always panting their hot stinky breath on you and jumping up and running at you full speed off leash in a park. Plus a dog bit my son the other day for no reason. The dog was on a leash and just went up to my son (who wasn't even looking at the dog -- he is very respectful to animals and never provokes them) and gave him a chomp on the calf, breaking the skin and drawing blood.

I don't grasp the concept of "cat person" and "dog person". Now if you'd asked if I was a cat person or an iguana person, that would be a no-brainer.

It's impossible to choose between them -- it's like Sophie's choice.

Alas, I've been trapped in a series of no-pets hellholes for several years now. I only even know one other person who has cats.

We do have a large population of feral cats here. Some stores, especially in Chinatown, have them inside, too. So I can occasionally get a brief cat fix on the road and not drive myself completely insane. :banghead:

60. If I had to pick one, it'd be cat.
I love them both. Dogs are better when you're outdoors, and cats are better when you're indoors. But, I can have a deeper relationship with a cat it seems. With a cat, you're equal, and a cat will look you in the eye. With a dog, there seems to be master/slave dynamic, and dogs won't look you in the eye unless they're trying to challenge your authority. That makes it harder to get close. They also seem more primitive, somehow. I think it's that their tongues are hanging out the side of their mouths so much. If Al Gore walked around like that I'd think he was an idiot.

But like I said, I still dig 'em to pieces.

or drink a steel girder.

Cats are so freaking amazing - I could watch them for hours and days. Beautiful and graceful in movement, beautiful in form, lithe and dextrous, aloof and self-controlled, love to play, efficient incredible killing machines... cats exemplify every quality that is worthy of praise in this universe.

Plus, they don't drool, they don't attack, they don't stink up the house, they don't smell everyone's crotches, they don't paw all over strangers or their humans, or do any of the other 8 million disgusting things that dogs do.

Dogs are boors in every sense of the word.

If we think back to the 1800s, cats share the best qualities of the highest level of refined aristocracy, and dogs share all the sub-literate behavior of the Irish mine/wharf/potato workers.

69. Cat, definitely. No question about it.
I like animals. I love dogs, but I am not well adapted to life with a dog. We have a dog in the house currently,

Bobbycobain:

with his favorite toy:

with HIS kitty, Doja, whom he loved. (Doja had to be put down. long sad tale, unrelated to Bobbycobain)

and he is silly, fun, cute, well behaved for a youngish dog and my daughter's baby. I will be happy when he is gone and my boys have the run of the house again. They currently live upstairs where they have run of the area, and they do run! He gets shut in with my daughter when she goes to bed and kitties get to come downstairs for the night which they spend with me then I put them back up when I get up.

Thomas

Lewis

Kitties can be left in the house for a long weekend without worry.
Kitties snuggle
Kitties purr
Kitties are usually softer
Kitties are mostly smaller
