...one minute, this place is all "need lounge vibes for my cousin's ingrown toenail and my son's algebra quiz" and the next folks are cackling about an actual hostage situation. Hell, if he was in a school or day care center, the garment rending would be non-stop, but since it's just some people who are happened to volunteer for HRC, it's a big joke?

No grieving, no mourning or anything called for, but maybe a little class?

while innocents are dying in Iraq, Darfur, etc., and the rainforests dry out and burn. Humor is a way to deal with stress, you know.

If someone was being malicious and meanspirited about the hostages that'd be one thing. That's not what was happening in this thread and IMO it's disingenuous to pretend like the joking that went on here was offensive or over the line.

As for HRC... well maybe you shouldn't have said this, then:
