Tiny Audience Reported for Fox Business Channel

News Corp's Fox Business Channel has been averaging only 6,300 viewers per day, according to figures from Nielsen research and published in today's (Friday) New York Times. By contrast, the cable network's chief rival, CNBC, averages 283,000 viewers per day. (Nielsen said that the figures for Fox were too low to reveal; the Times obtained them from sources at Fox and CNBC

1. Shades of Bridgeport's long-gone WICC-TV
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/3514/wicc.html

Eventually, WICC-TV's Bob Crane (yes, that Bob Crane, a native of nearby Waterbury -Ed.) tried a last ditch effort to get viewers--BY PAYING THEM!!! If anyone was watching they would have seen Bob holding a crisp $100 bill right on camera. The first caller could phone the station and get the $100. NOBODY CALLED! In December, 1960, the station went off the air. A few months later, most of WICC's programming was destroyed in a fire, except for a film showing the last day of WICC's programming. That was featured in a special produced by CT Public TV called..... "You're On The Air."

13. Local (Little Rock) liberal radio host
Pat Lynch used to tell a story about being the overnight DJ at a radio station - one night he fell asleep, and didn't play any more records all night. He got up the next morning expecting a firestorm, but nothing was ever said by management or listeners. Apparently NO ONE listened to this station either.

4. It's not the size of the audience that counts, it's the motion on the screen!

9. We should make a list of shows with larger audiences
For months, our local cable company had a channel displaying a Windows error screen. I think THAT had a bigger audience than the FBC.
