I did it.

I stood up in front of about 15-20 mostly complete strangers, and I recited my poems... No nerves, well mostly... Alas, the video lady flaked, but luckily my husband brought my digital camera, so we at least have those! I'm sorry there will not be a YouTube for all of you to see...:cry: Never again will I worry about performing in public! I was prepared, and it worked! Oh, and....... They liked it... 47. I really am down about 50% by volume.

The hair in back of my head that made up most of my old ponytail is pretty much denude. The sides are fairly intact, but once more it could have been much much worst. Alison and Peggy look great in that shot. I look like I weigh 300lbs. Oh well, I guess I could lay off the Ben & Jerry's for a while.

Good for you. I had to read poems aloud often during graduate school. It scared the bejeezus out of me at first, but once I calmed down I enjoyed it. Reading aloud for an audience will help you be a better writer (at least it did for me) and focus on the sound of the words rolling around and cajoling each other. I was supposed to have performed at least an hour earlier... So by the time I actually did perform, my nerves had turned to irritation! It's hard to be afraid if you're irritated! And then performing just took over, and I was fine... I know a lot of people have trouble with it. I feel so lucky!
