Do you have clingy pets?

This is Prudence. She has to be right on my chest or lap when I'm at the computer.
Do your pets do this, or is mine the only titty baby?

1. My ex had a couple of dauchshounds, one of whom was so attached to her father
that when he left the house, the dog would start crying. And the dog would pretty much just wait at the door until he came back.

2. Pru is rotten, and does cry for us...
Not nearly as much as she used to, but she still does it a bit. She's adjusted well, but she is an abuse victim from her first home, and we can't get her to stop the submissive urination. And if I'm at the computer, she's got to be on me. I love her to death, but sometimes it takes me 10 minutes to post something because she is in the way. I'm not here as much as I used to be or as much as I'd like because I feel bad if I am not spending time with her in the recliner with her asleep draped across me.

9. Very, very clingy.
All four of our pets are needy and want our undivided attention. Mother is off of the computer desk and is now sitting on my lap. I rarely can type without the obstruction of an animal vying for my attention.

Mr Gen with two more clingons.

16. My cats are the same way.
I often have at least one of them insisting on climbing in my lap, and two of them insist on following me into the bathroom.

I think my cats think they are puppies. :P

19. Our kitties are the same way.
When we take the dogs for hikes behind our house they follow along. If we accidentally leave them inside -- they cry at the window, batting their kitty paws on the glass to get our attention.

Cats are very cool.

13. Two dogs and a bird
The bird is cranky, bitey and fussy. He gets plenty of playtime out of his cage - but not much opportunity to demonstrate his biting skills. That is partly because he is so bitey and partly because he teases one of the dogs. The dog he teases has started catching wild birds in the backyard and would love to do the same to the bird that occupies his home. Bird needs a new home I fear. One without dogs. He is pretty well behaved when the dogs are gone.

One dog was very ill and almost died as a young pup. Five years later he is doing well although he has chronic renal disease. He is very clingy. Whines when his people leave. Refuses to eat if boarded. Lies between my feet when I am at the computer. Insists on being in my lap when I read or watch tv. Scrounges for every crumb at the table. Sleeps in the dead center of the bed where he somehow manages to touch me all night long. By the time morning comes this little 15 pound dog has pushed this fat old woman off onto the very edge of the bed and claimed the rest for himself. And he doesn't get up until commanded to do so.

The other dog is a very independent boy. Until he is sick or hurt. Then he demands lots of attention. Actually, he can be quite a ham. This summer he had dewclaw removal surgery and one of his incisions became slightly infected and inflamed. I took him to the vet to get some antibiotics. When we arrived he began to limp and favor his foot far more than he had been doing before the short drive to the vet office. As soon as someone came in the exam room he promptly sat down and held out his limp, sore, inflamed little paw. So cute. So pathetic.

24. I've got 2 greyhounds and 2 whippets
At any given time at least one is pressed up against some part of one of the family's anatomy. At night my husband and I sleep with the two whippets between us, under the covers, in the bed. And at least once during the night our greyhound bitch will howl for human company, which if she doesn't get ASAP, takes matters into her own paws and jumps in bed with us. Does that count?

25. my Tonka
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 08:19 PM by stuntcat
Tonka has some super-sense, no matter where he is he knows the very second I sit down at my computer and he has to come sit in my lap. I don't know how he always makes it in here so fast, it's like he's stalking me. And if he starts moving and bugging me I put him on the floor real fast and say Go Away! and in a minutes he's right back up here, he's a weirdo. The other two cats don't do it, they'll let me alone, except Puddy- she has to help me every time I go in the bathroom.. weirdo.

Prudence is beautiful :loveya: it looks like she'd get heavy though.

26. My last cat, Angel, was, and so is Baby
the one I have now. Baby has a fit when she sees me getting ready to go somewhere (even if it's just to go get the mail). Both of them were abandoned by former owners, so that may have something to do with it. Still I feel guilty if I want to go out somewhere...

27. I found my two kitties when they were 2 weeks old and they truly think (or thought,
one died a few years ago) that I am their mom. Frankie, the surviving brother, cries when I leave the house and sometimes when I just leave the room! If I sit down for more than 2 seconds, he's on my lap. And when we eat dinner, he insists we pull a bar stool up to the table so he can sit with us. I think he would love it if I carried him around in a baby snuggly.

Here he is (not so happily) wearing a sombrero he got for a present...

30. Pip and Bee are both needy in different ways
Pip we got from the pound and she's so needy it's sad. If you're on the computer she'll come and stand next to you so that she's touching your leg. She also likes to be next to you when you're sleeping, and if you sit on the couch petting Bee Pip will come jump in your lap. :o Finally, she cries when you leave the house. :(

Bee can't STAND to be confined; he will scream and scream. Also, when we took him to the dog park last week he didn't want to run around with the other dogs. He spent part of the time following Pippi around and the rest of the time standing next to us. I'm not sure he's aware of the point of the dog park. :P

31. MacFeegle was a clingy baby kitty...
Had to be very careful how I walked, because there was a little black furball apparently attached to my ankles...and if I sat down for ANYTHING he would jump up- HOLD ME HOLD ME HOLD ME.
That includes bathroom trips...:eyes:
Fixed a sort of Kitteh Snugli for him when I was on the computer.
Was worried about him, he was such a needy little guy...yet he was also full of joie de vivre...fearless, friendly, and sociable.
:bounce:

He's all grown up (14 Lbs and counting) and independant now...but he still tries to sleep with me as he did as a tiny kitten...curled on my shoulder under my right ear.
He doesn't fit there anymore...but he tries!

Still is fearless, friendly, sociable...has a "Bring it on!" attitude...but it's more like he's expecting a pizza rather than a fight.

44. I need to get a CAMERA!...
But all it is is a sort of shawl (like a Mexican serape) I use in the computer room...because it's colder in there than in the rest of the house.

It's rectangular, divided up the middle about halfway through, and the front ends are about 20" wide or so. Sorta fair representation below...

I'd just wrap the Baby Kitty in the left side, and then wrap/tuck the right side under as support. It hung from the back of my neck and shoulders.
Feegle was perfectly contented and would purr himself to sleep...and he dreamed a lot. Odd feeling, twitchy little paws, chattering jaws, and if I looked down I could see REM.

41. Yes indeed--literally clingy (kitty claws)
We have one male and two females. The male is independent and grumpy but seeks out Mr. MG or me once in a while. But the females--yeeeeesh. Jasmine, my familiar, lurks constantly--waiting for me to sit down--then BLAM--she's on my lap, then crawling up my shoulder, digging in her claws so I don't dump her on the floor or onto the living room chair. Yowtch. She also perches on the back of my desk chair and follows me into the bathroom, but I refuse to let her sit on my lap when I'm on the throne. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

The other female, Clover, owns Mr. MG. She sleeps on his computer table under the gooseneck lamp (which MUST be left on at all times so she can roast herself whenever necessary), and when it's time for bed she herds him upstairs by yowling at him and glaring at him with her little pissy part-Persian puss. Once he's in bed she plants herself between his knees for the night.

They're in charge; we just open the catfood cans.
