Man kicked out of restaurant for 'grills'; threatens to sue

WEST PALM BEACH, Fl. - A man is filing a discrimination suit against a popular bar after he says he was discriminated against.

Shawn Anderson claims it's an issue about race and teeth.

Anderson said he was asked to leave Roxy's on Clematis Street Wednesday night because of his gold teeth.

The manager explained Roxy's dress code bans 'grills', gold teeth covers.

Anderson feels this rule intentionally targets the black community.

and grilz do not represent me.In fact I can't stand them. We don't all walk around wearing grillz - there are some of us that think they are ignorant.I can't go into how I feel about this right now but I race has nothing to do with this.

and also it's not only black people who wear them.

Some nightclub bouncers will let in hotties (M & F) and send ordinary-looking people to the back of the line. Some places won't let you in the door if you're shirtless or covered in tats and piercings. Maybe Mr Anderson was kicked out for purely aesthetic reasons. Grills are, after all, an ugly disfigurement of quite possibly perfectly good teeth. Why would anyone want to look like he had braces?

He's friggin' got gold teeth for real, from back in the day when they gave people gold teeth if you lost one. This is discrimination.

...and the friggin' jewel-encrusted front bumpers people put on their faces.

This is an excuse to discriminate for other reasons.

Went to a trendy club in SF and apparently my clothes weren't up to snuff...I couldn't get in. The ass looked at my girlfriend (blonde hottie) and let HER in, but I was barred. She became my ex-girlfriend when she smiled at me and actually walked in.

And she actually had the audacity to get MAD at me later for going home...she expected me to get back in line and try again. The club was about 30 miles from my house and I guess she had a hell of a time getting home later.

This post does have a point. I was a 6'1" skinny white redhead, and I got bounced because I didn't fit the "look" they wanted. I wasn't bounced for my skin color, or my teeth, but because my look didn't fit their style. Lot's of clubs work this way, and it's style discrimination, not racial discrimination. Last I checked, discriminating based on someones clothing is not only legal, but it's actively encouraged in our fashion driven consumerist society.
