Thomcat and I saw "The Whomping Willows."
Actually, that's my take on it. Thomcat feels we witnessed Harry Potter fandom run amuck. Picture a standing room only crowd - 90% of the crowd being women - many in the audience singing along to every song. I have not seen Thomcat laugh so hard in a very long time.

I am inspired. I may drag Thomcat to the ice skating event this Sunday at Byrant Park where we will wear our house colors and cheer the Potterites. No muggle attire allowed. Skaters will be wearing their house robes. I need to get Thomcat to fill out one of those surveys so he can be sorted into a house. With that bright red union suit, I'm sure he's destined for Gryffindor.

Here's the band website.

There's a link to the Whomping Willows lyrics too. Thomcat feels the Lounge poets should put their best efforts towards writing a kick-ass Harry Potter-themed song. Trust me. Once you read the lyrics to some of these songs, you'll see the need for some good writing.

Here was Thomcat's favorite song of the night.

In Which Draco and Harry Secretly Want To Make Out
Draco Malfoy, what’s your problem?
You’re lookin kinda mopey and forlorn this morning
Harry Potter, what’s your deal?
Are you having trouble with the feelings that you feel?
Draco Malfoy, what’s your issue?
Do you need a hug or maybe a tissue?
Harry Potter, give us a sign
You can’t commit to Ginny so what do you have in mind?
Give me three guesses
Is it Professor McGonagall?
Is it Lavender Brown?
No, it’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
S-N-O-G-G-I-N-G
It’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
F-A-L-L-I-N-G
In love
In love
In love

Draco Malfoy, level with me
You used to be so enthralled with Pansy
Harry Potter, don’t be shy
You got no luck with women so perhaps you need a guy
There’s nothing wrong with it
No, there’s nothing wrong with it
You can move to Massachusetts
Where it will be Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
S-N-O-G-G-I-N-G
It’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
F-A-L-L-I-N-G
In love

There’s nothing wrong with it,
There’s nothing wrong with it,
There’s nothing wrong with it
it’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
S-N-O-G-G-I-N-G
it’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
S-N-O-G-G-I-N-G
it’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
S-N-O-G-G-I-N-G
it’s Draco and Harry sitting in a tree
F-A-L-L-I-N-G
In love

Go ahead. Make fun of us. By the way, this is my first thread in the Lounge.

4. The fundies warned us that no good would come of reading Harry Potter.
But they were only worried about Satanism. Never in the wildest dreams of the most unhinged Christofascist, could they have imagined skating Hogwartians singing about forbidden love between Potter and Malfoy.

The horror. The horror.

8. It could be the weapon we've been waiting for.
Like Monty Python's killing joke, the Whomping Willow CD could cause any fundie heads within hearing range to simply explode.

That has real potential.

10. Some of the songs were truly cringe-worthy.
That one was actually pretty well done. :P

OMG, everyone was singing along. They Knew All The Words! :wow:
