"Johnny arrived in Iraq 2 days ago" So the good news, he got there safe, the bad new, he's back in Iraq. 3rd tour there and he did almost a year in Afghanistan, with each deployment the dread meter goes up 3 clicks.

9. he's getting out in another 10 months supposedly and he wasn't supposed to be going back to iraq
thats what he was told, he went to training for 2 months in AZ. and then he was supposed to go elsewhere---not to Iraq and then he got orders to go to Iraq. I doubt he'll be out in 10 months.

3. Damn!

I hope he comes home safe and sound again. And I hope the assholes who started these wars get some of the costs thrown in their own laps... Soon.

4. my bil was in the army for 30 years and has just given up on washington.
what worries me more is how worried my bil is this time, he's usually a pretty cool customer but when i talked to him on Christmas day he was all choked up.

8. Obscene is exactly the right word fir it Peggy.
i told my daughter this afternoon he was going again and she just cried like the last 2 times, it's hard for me, unbearable for his parents but it must be really strange for a 13 year old that her cousin is in a war zone.
