If you have AT&T cellular service, how do you like it?
Is it good service?

I'm considering switching from t-mobile (which I've loved the years I've had it) and going AT&T since AT&T has much lower international rates.

It appears that AT&T has as much or more coverage as T-Mobile.

But is it trustworthy?

T-Mobile has been so blessedly perfect, I only want to switch if AT&T is as good as them in getting a signal, keeping it consistent, ease of use, and all around excellence.

1. I've never been with another company.
I started w/ it before it switched to "Cingular" - I get great coverage, and it just works.

HOWEVER - if you search online you will find a huge number of people complaining about it. Problem is, you'll find the same number of complaints about ALL of the cellular services.

My personal experience has been positive.

2. I have 1,000 users that I manage.

We have offices in 84 countries, so our people travel constantly. T-Mobile works far, far better in more countries.

We do not give our international traveler AT&T Mobility devices unless they specifically demand it. T-Mobile is our default carrier for international travel.

You need to have T-Mobile turn on your International service.

3. No, I only call international
I don't need it for international travel, because I only go to Japan and since nothing works there, it doesn't matter what service I have.

5. Ah. The easiest way to get a phone that works in Japan
is to rent one. We routinely rent phones in some countries that have their own closed networks.

4. My daughter has AT & T and when she has service it's great but in our area
there aren't enough towers. I have Sprint and when my contract is up in July i'm switching companies.

6. Overall I have no complaints; I'm sure it is at least as good as any other
service. Plus, coverage is always improving each day.

But the best part is that you can now get an iPhone! :P

10. Sadly, I've no interest in an iPhone.
Thanks for your comment, though!

I'm glad so many are having good service with AT&T.

12. None??? You should play with one for a few minutes and then decide
But if you aren't Mac, then I suppose I can understand the disinterest. I believe, however, that touch screens are the wave of the foreseeable future.

13. Maybe I should say I don't have $500 worth of interest.
I've seen the one a friend has, and it IS very cool, but it's way too expensive, and way more crap than I need from a phone.

Even my RAZR is total overkill.

8. I use the AT&T where you buy the pay as you go cards
for set amounts (in multiples of $25) and the money you put into your account lasts for 3 months or more depending on which money amount you put in. The minutes roll over if you buy more before the time expires. I like it that way, to be honest. You don't have to worry about sending off a bill or signing some contract or anything. It's really easy to enter the pin number in every 3 months or sooner if you use up your minutes. Piece of cake, easy, and can be as cheap as $25 per card.

9. I recently switched from Verizon to AT&T
and AT&T's signal strength is FAR inferior. I live in Los Angeles...the land of the cell phone...and there are spots (my apartment included, of course) where the signal is extremely weak.

I also had a heck of a time getting a signal when I went home to Nebraska for Christmas. Outside of a city? Forget it.

That said, I've never had T-Mobile, so I can't compare the two.

19. Interestingly, I went from AT&T (Cingular) to Verizon and experienced the same thing.
I'm about to go back to AT&T.

11. It depends on what part of the country you are in
I think Verizon is vastly superior to AT&T especially if you are in the northeast. I know a bunch of people who have AT&T and I can't tell you how many times I've had to deal with their dropped calls. I've had Verizon for 3 years now and never had a problem getting a signal or losing a call.

I used to have T-Mobile before I switched and the reason I made the change was because the T-Mobile signal was very spotty. Maybe they have improved a bit over the last few years, I don't know.

15. I have ATT/Cingular and Verizon Phones....
ATT seems to have a better choice of the newer technology, but I can barely use them around here. Literally, I can not talk on my ATT phone for 5 minutes before getting booted or dropped.

I rarely get dropped on Verizon, but I found out that they can't block a number for harassing calls (:wtf:)

16. Switched from Sprint in May
No complaints so far.

And since you need it for international calling, I use it to call my dad in Nigeria and have no problems with it whatsoever. The call quality even on those calls is very good.

17. at&t sucked
i started with them back when they were at&t the first time, stayed with them while they were cingular and then back to at&t.

their coverage sucks. well, at least in my town, where'd i'd drop a call in the middle of town. tmobile has better coverage (again, at least in n. colorado). tmoblie also has better customer service, imo.

good luck

18. It worked fine for us for a while
We use our phones primarily for inter-family communication, and it worked great while we were all in the same town. My daughter left for college in Sept., and her reception is very spotty at school. Even though the coverage map SAYS that her college is in our area, we were charged roaming fees to the tune of about $800 the first month she was there. Customer service was very helpful; they back-dated us to a national plan, and removed all the roaming charges.

AT & T is not ideal for us now, but it is the best thing available to us here. Our other choice is US Cellular, which I understand is terrible.

20. I used to have it. But I was in Iowa visiting friends when my mom
took a turn for the worse--which would ultimately lead to her death. I didn't realize there were no towers there, and couldn't be reached. My dad finally started using 411 to track down my friends. As soon as the funeral and other arrangements were done, I went home and switched my service ASAP. I now have a small local company with a roaming contract with Alltell. I've never had a problem since the switch--in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin or even Connecticut!

I've always had Cingular and always loved it. Since they made the switch to ATT, it's been just as great.

23. had it and dumped it
for several reasons

for one my phone which was replaced once, had a buzzing in my ear that drove me batty.

Even the replacement did.

So they sent me another replacement.

Before I got it I discontinued my service and started with sprint.

Namely sprint because someone that i talk to a lot, well whenever I can, has sprint and mobile to mobile is free... saved a bundle on the packages we were both having to pay for so I'm quite pleased. Instead of going over my 2000 minute package and bumping it up to 3 or 4 thousand minutes, I have 450 min, and I used 100 minutes :) I talked no less either... just didn't cost me anything beyond the plan to do it.

The service on Sprint is a little patchy. ATT had better coverage areas.

Other than the buzzing in my ear, really no complaints about the service. Although I did have some issues with my email account, and them "bundling" my phone services with my home phone, they seemed like morans when it came to actually getting it done.

24. it works wherever there are population centers, interstate highways,
most US highways, and in terrain where mountains don't interfere with RF transmission and reception.
