The SCRAPBOOK WORLD is awash in SCANDAL!
Kristina Contes was known in crafting circles for her avant-garde designs, celebrating Converse sneakers and her hairless terrier, Chloe. But with one mistake, her world turned on her.

26. it's essentially collage. I am a collage artist. It's also about getting together with other women
(mostly) in a safe environment.

Maybe if more people attempted to give their creativity an outlet, the world would be a lot more peaceful and loving.

23. I am worried about the Onion
The ridiculousness of life is starting to far outstrip imagination, satire, and fantasy.

They may have to go legit in order to keep sharp!

GOP'ers.

But then there's the women like me who aren't. We tend to do more of the artsy stuff.

..of extreme quilting.

"Cornered by the press in her squalid hideout, FloridaJudy confessed 'Yes, I fudged that appliqué - I used fray-check. But everybody deserves a second chance!' She shows little remorse for her unethical use of a banned substance. How many others have been lead down this twisted path by easy access to performance enhancing fabric supplies?"

I would bluntly describe the way I see them, but would probably inadvertently offend some here, so I won't go any further.

31. First of all, before scrapbooks "died"
back in the day, they WERE about whatever the person wanted to put in them. Contes' style is in keeping with the original idea when they first became popular, before the "perfect housewife" industry hijacked them.

32. Oh brother.
I'm a diehard scrapper. Most of my stuff is "heritage scrapbooking."

NONE of my photos were taken by me, since they're all at least 50 years old. So I guess that means I'd never be able to enter anyting of mine in a contest for fear a bunch of fundie bitches would ang up on me?

I'm a solitary scrapper for just this reason. I love to go find all the products, but I hate staying in the stores for very long because of the C/W and contemporary Christian music they usually play. And I NEVER go to group scraps, since I have nothing in common with these women. It's something I do for me and for the family genealogy book I'm writing. I use my books as advertising tools to interest cousins in the project.

The comments against her sound like the crap that Fundies or rightist pukes say about liberals, GLBTers, or any group that is "weird".

Sounds like a whole lotta JEALOUSY to me!

I don't even get what the bitch is, as she credited her friend - so what if a couple had made it? Would that be against the rules?

I think its just people who felt they shoulda won getting back at the winner by tearing her down.

Geeeez.

44. what part of GET A LIFE do these people not understand
I was in a Michael's store the other day and found a huge display of "scrapbooking caddys". They were a plain plastic box about a foot square, priced $19.95. An identical "plastic box" two aisles away was $1.95. All products marked "scrapbooking" are anywheres from double to ten times the price of identical generic items.
