I have had it with Yahoo answers.
Bastards.

I recieved this lovely violation notice in my inbox today, regarding a question I had answered:

You have posted content to Yahoo! Canada Answers in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. As a result, your content has been deleted. Community Guidelines help to keep Yahoo! Canada Answers a safe and useful community, so we appreciate your consideration of the rules.

Question: im gay, is it ok to lose your virginity? i am 13 years old, and how old do you have to be to buy condoms?

Question Details: i dont know if i should tell my mom that im gay.

Deleted Answer: You have to decide whether it's okay for you to lose your virginity. You seem a little young, but if you feel you are truly ready for it, how can I tell you otherwise? And you don't have to be a certain age to buy condoms - you can buy them at the drugstore. Likewise, only you can tell whether or not you should tell your mom. This is a pretty good guide to coming out to your parents: http://www.outproud.org/brochure_coming_out.html Good luck to you!

Violation Reason:Solicitation

If you feel this content was removed in error, please contact Customer Care and tell us why.

Can someone explain to me how my answer was a solicitation? Just what, exactly, was I soliciting? And how was that a violation of their community guidelines?

Some homophobic asshole probably falsely reported it. Jesus Christ.

1. Yeah, I don't get it
They make it sound like you were being some kind of pervert. If you are interested in continuing to post there I would try to clear it up with them. At least get more than a one word explanation. Otherwise, fuck it.

2. I know. "Soliciting"?
Sounds like I was using the system to hire a prostitute, or something.

3. I think the posting of the site link was the problem
If you had just suggested that the person search on their own, "There are many sources of good info out there. A quick search should help you a lot..", they should have let it fly.

4. You're apparently allowed to post links
as long as they're relevant, which mine was.

5. At least 2 possibilities:
Depending on the "age of consent", stating your age and tying it to anything sexual (regardless of activity) is currently deemed illegal, regardless if people agree with it or not.

There are real vile people out there who will deliberately prey on 13 year olds, especially if they state their age.

Never mind cops who will claim to be 13 to lure such degenerate filth and arrest them too. Let's just say I side with the cops because anybody who wants to fiddle with a child should... be locked up in a cell with the lock fused and key melted. (a victim of such activity myself, I have no kind words whatsoever against such animals and I wholly support police efforts to stop pedophilia, and I hope they go after various religious figures who engage in the same activity too.)

The internet is not a safe place to be regarding the discussion (or follow-through) with human sexuality. Too many news articles can't be wrong.

6. Probably police trolling for offenders.
You need to be careful, even though your intentions are good.

7. Oh yeah, because a 16-year-old lesbian is going to lure a 13-year-old gay dude for sexual purposes.
