ANGLETON — A former junior high school teacher has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after admitting that he had a sexual relationship with a male seventh-grader.

Brian Edward Cody, 31, of Port Lavaca, was a social studies teacher at Manvel Junior High School until he was fired in the wake of his charges. He pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated sexual assault of a child and improper educator-student contact.

The alleged victim was a seventh-grade student at the school and a plea bargain spared the child from having to testify, Brazoria County District Attorney Jeri Yenne said.

"We consulted with the victims and they were comfortable with the resolution," Yenne said.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child carries a possible prison sentence of five years to life and a $10,000 fine, while improper educator-student relationship is punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Teachers who have sex with their students are the exception rather than the rule. Why, I hardly ever have sex with my students. Do you have any idea how annoying teenagers are?

I don't see the justice in a rapist being raped. I doubt his victim would derive any healing or consolation from knowing his attacker is being raped. Where is the consolation in the rapist being raped? Since the preponderance of sexual predators are themselves former victims of sexual abuse, isn't this just a continuation of the same old cycle of violence and sexual abuse?

If he suffers any retribution in jail, it probably will not be rape, but a good beating. (not that I am condoning that either).

If you got some lifers in there with nothing to lose, they might just take him out entirely. Remember what happened to Jeffery Dahmer.
