9. But the poster's contention stands nonetheless. "Look at all those fish!"

3. I'm a bit sore from working so many hours (see my "I'm hot" thread), but
damn happy that I got so much work done today / tonight.

I have The Fever, and will finish the revisions of that book and find a new publisher within the next week, or die trying.

(Not really. The dying part, that is.)

5. I did see your thread!
I'm sure you will find a publisher without dying!

Our mutual friend just sent a story of his out to find its way in the publishing world too...

Check in the Writer's group for his thread!

Sorry you're sore, but I'm sure it will all pay off!

(You'd better not die!)

7. I saw his thread. He's on the verge of discovering the Big Truth for Writers,
or at least the first part thereof.

First part of Big Truth for Writers: You'll never know if you're any good as a writer unless you take the steps to find out if someone will PAY to read what you've written.

Second part of Big Truth for Writers, which he'll get to next, if he's serious about writing: Get used to rejection. If you can't do that, just give up right now.

There is lore aplenty about writers who are now famous, and who have stacks of rejection notices (back when those were on paper) large enough to fill a closet. But they persevered, not feeling like their work was so good that a rejection or two meant that "the world didn't understand how good their writing really was."

Yes, Peg, this work will pay off. My book was good in its previous incarnation and sold well, so I have no doubt that it has a chance to be re-published in the latest version.

But God, I'm tired. Off to sleep now so I can get back to it tomorrow morning.

I was thinking in terms of "it is their (singular) right" and "it is their (plural) right"

Sorry...I'll take my word and go home... :D

EDIT: and I killed the thread, to boot...

23. Candy?
Plural could be candy or candies, but I think the singular also works for the collective -- that must be it.
