I'm one of those dirty blonde women that color (nope no grays here ;)). I've been reddish before, but presently blonde. This is my tired mom/husband's cell phone pic, but it's the only semi-newish one I have.

The lady in the photo is Kendall's Aunt Sally...who is mesmerizing Kendall with her "coolness" (she is a lot of fun).

She's my dad's older sister and she also was my 11th grade English teacher. (She made me and my best friend, Bruce, sit at the front of the class because "if you two are going to entertain one another, you may as well entertain the rest of us." :rofl: )

with a "unique" perspective on life... :D

We all love her and her husband; they are very liberal, and real "friends of the earth"...Kendall has spent much of her school years in a more "conservative" environment, but her heart is much more aligned with Sally and her hubby...ours is a mix of the two.

A couple of months ago, I was listening to one of the local radio shows and they were saying that there weren't very many good-looking redheads. My DH was incensed (he's got a thing for redheads, probably started with a mega-crush on Molly Ringwald when he was in high school), as was I, and we could easily prove them wrong with this thread.

I'm wondering when/if I will go gray. My sisters-in-law, both brunettes are always asking me that.

I've had to tell Mrs R many times that it looks unnatural for her to have her hair dyed red (being half African, it clashes with her skin color), but she persists with it anyway.

As may remember from earlier correspondence, I'm the only fair-complected, red-haired person in my primarily Cherokee family. Bigotry takes all forms, I guess. My mother, growing up on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border, was ridiculed for her dark skin; I grew up within the territorial boundaries of the Cherokee Nation and was ridiculed for my red hair and fair skin. :shrug:

Adults referred to my sister and me as, "The cute one and the smart one." I wasn't "the cute one." And my sister wasn't considered "the smart one." What a backhanded compliment, made worse by it coming from people who should have known better. :eyes:

I always got the question, "Where did that red hair come from?". My parents were brunettes and my siblings had light brown and blonde hair. I didn't look like I belonged :cry:

My biological parents are a Cherokee woman and a blond-haired, blue-eyed man. My adopted parents are a dark-haired, dark-skinned daddy and a Cherokee mom. I've never looked like I belonged, but that's okay. Ya get used to it after a while.

I'm fortunate to have fabulously smart and kind parents who adopted me and my little sister when I was six and she was five. I remember my school teacher mom tellin' someone in answer to the "Where did the red hair come from?" question: "Genetics, dear. Read up on 'em."
