'little' memories
we all have memories of those big events, those big days, whatever they may be

but what about those small moments in time, those snapshots that will always make you smile?

my best friend went to study in germany in september 2005 (she's still there, btw). i went to visit her in march 2006. she picked me up at the airport and when we got on the train, she told me to close my eyes. she stuck something (an earbud) in my ear, and something cold (a beer) in my hand. then 'our' song started playing.

it killed me that she thought enough to put that little thing together for me when i got there.

another one that stands out as clearly comes from my trip to nyc with elrond hubbard.

we were standing on the platform, waiting for the n train from astoria. it was raining. he took my hand as i looked out onto the road below.

it was so simple but i will never forget it

share your little memories, loungers

3. Over winter break, my sophomore year in college...
I was traveling to Florida to spend a week with a good friend at his place in Daytona Beach, and as it was a long ride and he was driving, I fell asleep...somewhere in North Carolina, I think. Anyway, when I woke up, we were driving through South Carolina, far enough south that you could see palm trees and the sun shining brightly...and he smiled and said, "I have something for you." He turned on the car CD player - which he had cued to U2's "City of Blinding Lights" - and we listened to that song as we continued to travel south into the sunshine. He sang along with the "Oh, you look so beautiful tonight" part, and sitting there next to him in the sunshine, hearing the music and seeing the palm trees and just being with him, I was truly happy. :) Definitely one of my favorite "little moments," and one that meant a lot more to me than he will probably ever really know. (And yes, we did end up dating. ;))

(Thanks for this thread, kagehime - I was feeling a bit down tonight, for some reason, and something like this was just the sort of thing I needed. Thanks, sweetie!)

7. Let's see...little moments.
One of many, is when you finally crawled out of your crib for the first time (at about 17 - 18 months). Over the railings, to the bookshelf, onto the little stool and into our bedroom. I had never seen just a proud smile in my life...you had the biggest smile on your face and an ornery twinkle in your eye. There was no stopping you after that! :loveya:

Then there was the look on your face when our old cat, Tasha, drilled the heck out of your little face because you kept pulling at her. Thankfully, she was declawed but the look on your face sent dad and I into gales of laughter. Your eyes were as big as saucers...you didn't cry but boy did she put you in your place. You never pulled at her again.

One really sweet memory is when Dad told me how nice I look on my graduation day...that is a special memory for me because that is the first time he had ever said that.

Too many more to put here but those are a few that first popped into my mind. (What's an "earbud" or do I dare ask :silly:)

9. Thanks OB..
I was wondering if it was along the lines of when I moved into my first apartment, circa 1968. I had taken my clothes home for my mom to wash (she loved it having done laundry for 8 for many a year). She found a roach clip in one of my pockets. She asked what it was, I told her, and she wondered, aloud, why anyone would want to put a bug on a clip

12. Well, I certainly
don't want to talk about a time I smacked your hands. Not really, you know the story. I could talk about when you used your diaper contents for artwork all over you AND the wall? Want me to? Didn't think so :loveya:
