Want to have a good laugh at my expense?
So, it's 8:30AM and there's nobody else at work besides me.

Walked to Mattapan station in 19 degree weather to take the Mattapan-Ashmont trolley. I got to the Cambridge office bright an early at 7:00AM.

Normally, I have breakfast with the early birds at 8:00AM, but nobody has arrived yet...

On a hunch, I decide to check the holiday schedule...

Sure enough, it's MLK day and an official company holiday.

I'm heading home now; another one and a half hour commute in freezing weather.

Oh well, see you in about two hours... :hi:

7. well, don't forget about president's day ..do they still give Lincoln's Birthday
separate from President's Day in Mass? The best one is Bunker Hill day which is a bank holiday in only PART of Boston.

enjoy rest of day and stay warm

we got a banking holiday every 15 days..back then the Feds had not declared national days off for Columbus Day, MLK, President's Day ...

10. now have one at my husband's expense!
he needed to take his car in to the shop, and asked me to drive my car up to bring him home. So we go out to get in the car, he hops in the passenger seat and I put the key in the ignition and said: "umm, if you need to leave your car @ the shop don't you think you should drive it there?"

we both nearly killed ourselves laughing.

we call that pulling a Dorothy..my mom (Dorothy) went tearing out of the house on a snowy morning to walk up to the Post Office and mail some letters. The cat sneaked into the house when she opened the door, so she scooped up the cat, locked the door, tucked the cat under her arm and tossed the mail down in the snow.

21. Thanks, I had a good day.
I switched an axle in a friend's bicycle wheel, I ate some lunch, then the dogs and I went to the park.

Soon, my thread count will get high enough that people will actually take me serious!! :woohoo:

13. LOL! That's pretty good!
It reminded me of a friend of mine down in Texas who, while driving down the freeway, lit a cigarrete with his butane lighter, shook the lighter to put out the flame, and tossed the GOLD lighter out the window...

15. I'm sure I've gone to work on a public holiday before.
And I've done more embarrassing stuff than that, too.

17. Why thank you kindly!
I actually got a chance to catch up on crossword puzzles and sudoku on the 'T'.

I have been falling behind because I've been reading a book instead.

It was bitterly cold today; I said it was 19, but it was actually 14.

So it was good to get home, have some lunch with an extra helping of chili oil to warm me up.
