I really thought Brokeback was a turnaround for him with his career and that new Batman movie looked promising. But I also know he broke up with Michelle Williams, who was the mother of his child.

He was very outspoken against the war in Iraq and even aroused a bit of controversy here in Australia for the vehemency of his condemnation and his willingness to stand up for his principles. If my memory serves me accurately, he participated in the anti-war marches before the conflict began

I am in shock. This is a sad, sad loss to the acting industry and especially to Australia. And he had a young kid as well. I feel so, so sorry for everyone involved. We've lost a great actor
