I was reading that it is a spring beer, but i am under the impress that spring beers are lighter (usually made of wheat)

But its so much smoother than any barleywine I've ever had!

You wait for the shock of the somewhat bitter/sour after taste you get here in the States and it never comes!:cry: tears of joy!

airport draughts can be a dodgy proposition other places but not at the Dublin or Shannon airports.

They have brewpubs inside the airport, and if you take Horizon Air, they serve free NW Microbrew. They served McTarnahan's Cream Stout when I was on.

I used to visit every year and would go to the Barley Mill Pub on Hawthorn street and drink Terminator stoudt and Black Rabbit Porter- good stuff but I haven't been there in years and years-

And I love how they buy out old classic farmhouses, schools and theaters and turn them into beer bars and B & B's.

he would start up the pubs in new places, hire staff and move on- Love the Edgefield brewery/Hotel complex- I think they do a fine job of decorating with antiques and serve a good pint. Cornelius pass roadhouse,Tavern and Pool and the Fulton where nice too. T&P had a snooker table-

So hoppy it smells like kind bud in the bottle, but when poured into a glass the honey aroma takes over. It's now near the top of my DIPA list, along with Foothills' Seeing Double and Weyerbacher's Double Simcoe IPA. Victory's Hop Wallop retains the crown for hoppiest, but it's not a DIPA.

Bells also has a real winner with their 2007 Expedition Stout. I've got a 6-pack of that stuff stashed to age for a few years, along with a 4-pack of the 2006 Sammichlaus. Both will be >20% by the time I get to 'em. I'm constitutionally incapable of storing any of the DIPAs for any length of time.

There are a lot of things I have had that haven't made me cry...yet.

It was at a place in Victoria BC. They made it themselves. It was called "Old Knucklehead" and it was ambrosiac

My 2nd ship did training exercises at sea for six weeks off Gitmo. I literally do not remember setting foot on the base, but we must have since we couldn't drink on board (except probably the officers in their cushy dining quarters).

The beer had to be loaded with a preservative, was greenish, and we were told it was formaldehyde -----is that possible. So the taste was horrendous at first, but as with all things we got innured to the taste and forgot about it.


So when it was all over, at our first Liberty in the U.S., at Mayport, FL, we did the usual for the beginning of Liberty after a long spell---steak dinner and an automatic beer.

The beer was served, just a regular domestic brand, and I reached for it without giving it a thought.

The TASTE was astounding---refreshing, like all taste-bud-sy. It's never tasted so good again.
