Kellie Pickler doesn't know France is a country
and she's never heard of Hungary.

She's a former contestant on American Idol and currently on Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader.

I grieve.

2. So the answer for Kellie is 'no' on the 5th Grader question...
...and probably 'no' for the 'Are you smarter than a pre-schooler?' question.

3. Not everyone can be an Einstein. She seems like a very nice, down to earth person. Nothing wrong
with that.

So cheer up. :)

10. I'll take an uneducated, kind soul over a know-it-all asshat every day.

15. ...those "kind souls" elected Bush to office, you know
Ignorance may be bliss for them, but it sure as hell creates serious problems for the rest of the world.

16. Asshats arguably create more problems. Why the hell bring bushco and politics into this?

19. Absolutely. But I don't have to like it
The issue has to do with thinking that ignorance is "cute" or "funny" or "harmless" and that's all I was addressing, really.

21. I don't think Ms. Pickler's ignorance is cute or funny,
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 02:01 AM by Heidi
but I also understand that she's young and apparently wasn't raised with many of the same advantages as I. Also, emotional intelligence (in my opinion) is just as important as book learnin'; people with high emotional intelligence, but little formal education, could easily cast their votes for progressives and support progressive causes. :)

I think you and I are in agreement here.

ETA: My maternal grandfather had a second-grade education (yes, he'd be older than 100 if he were still alive) and he was a liberal all his life.

23. I said that she seemed like a kind soul, despite the fact that she may not be that intelligent.
So your issue is a non-issue.

20. No.
It is more complicated than that. I find your attitude smug, bigoted, and demeaning. I don't suppose you mind, though, when uneducated people voted Democratic....

6. I saw her do a segment on the Tonight Show where she toured NYC.
She was in Chinatown and said with a straight face, "I've never met a Chinese person before!" :wtf:

She was taught a few Chinese phrases by a local and started using it on everybody, then one of them, who she mistook for an immigrant, said, "What?"

8. I saw that.
They said she was a celebrity, and I had no idea who she was. So if she was on American Idol that makes her a celebrity? I have no idea where these people come from that are famous for who knows what reason.

Anyway, I had to turn it off because I didn't want those stupidity ions flowing into my house. It was too painful to watch.

9. SHAME on her parents. SHAME.
If whatever school graduated her didn't care enough to teach her SOMETHING then the parents should have. SHAME.

12. If I recall, her mother abandoned her when she was an infant and her father spent most of his life
in jail.

Poor kid didn't have much of an encouraging environment, to say the least.

13. That's just pitiful.
too many kids in America, it's sad to say. She's been "discovered". If she has someone to stop the vultures from picking her bones then she's mightly lucky. Luckier than most kids in her situation, that's for sure.

24. Sounds like her manager/agent is allowing her to be exploited
so that TV watchers can derive a sense of superiority without even getting up off of the couch. Sad. :(
