"8 Websites that Jumped the Shark"
"Jump the Shark" is on there, as is CNN.com, and Ain't It Cool News. Not DU, though (in spite of the primary season internecine venom!):

2. Man, the paid porn thing is so true.
Redtube and xtube are all a person needs, unless they have needs that go beyond the norm.

4. This made me laugh:
"With youporn, porntube, redtube.com, and the like, there’s enough free porn out there to satisfy all of China, if it was only inhabited by thirteen-year-old boys with portable lotion dispensers."

What an image!

5. Well, they're right about MySpace...
...I just took a look at my page and see that I haven't logged in since November. I just communicate with my friends through IM and e-mail.

7. lol
"Yes, Holy Taco has a myspace page, and every day I get the following friend request from some chick in a bikini named something like “Nadia”. “Hey, I noticed you were on the site, just wanted to say hi! Myspace won’t let me show my naked pics here, so come to my website!” If If I wanted porn, I’d go to a website or look in between my dad’s mattress. And who could forget how awesome it is to go to someone’s site, wait 15 minutes for it load the customized background picture of a unicorn flying, only to find when it does load, John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World” immediately begins blasting out of my lap top. Somehow Myspace has tricked people in to thinking that everyone GIVES A SHIT about what their page looks like. This picture below makes my head want to explode."

Sadly, i just got into the myspace thing a few months ago, and of course now it is too late and already passe...I posted that quote because i do get pissed off at all the fake women who send friend requests, and the fact that i can't seem to find any real friends (especially female) who are not DUers...

and of course, i want to stab someone when i go to their page and get blasted with a crappy pop song

11. Believe it or not, it wasn't so much the porn-related ad requests that turned me off of MySpace...
...it was the music thing you mentioned. The LAST thing I want is for someone's song of choice to begin blaring without giving me the option of turning it on myself. I got to the point where whenever I'd go to someone's page, I'd position my cursor near the player in the hopes that I got it close enough to shut off the fucking song before I had to hear a single goddamned note.

On my page, it has "song deleted by artist." That's the way it's going to stay.

14. It may well be, but
I've got my page set so that bands can't contact me. Before I did so, I'd get a dozen friend requests from bands every week, and I just didn't have the time or inclination to listen to 4-5 songs from each just to see if the band was friend-worthy.

10. I was just thinking the same about AICN. Never a bad review.
It seemed like just a studio viral marketing site for gullible 14 y.o. boys. Occasionally an odd ball targeting a different demographic would get through, but they wouldn't change Harry's review generator. "Oh, man! The new version of Jane Austen's "Flowers and Vagina's" starring Rene Zellwiger was totally awesome! The special effects were drop dead gorgeous! I've never seen Victorian England so perfectly rendered with CGI! The sound effects made me shit my pants!"

12. Sites usually jump the shark when they get bought out
I'm surprised Television Without Pity wasn't on that list.

13. I like last week's Reno 911 where Dangle tried to literally jump a shark.
And then he winds up crashing into the shark tank...
