The next person in my office who says "it is what it is" is getting catapulted
"It is what it is," said the manager.

"That's the last thing it is," said the underling. "And you're an asshole."

3. I hate "To be totally honest" and "I hate to say it but"
Seriously - were you never honest with me before? And if you hate to say it, why say it in the first place - you're probably just trying to piss me off

6. My boss says that.
When I'm in pain and taking things literally, that answer pisses me off for being a non-answer.

When I'm a bit more coherent I realize that he's really just trying to find a nice way to say, "We have to put up with this shit regardless of how deep it is."

7. THIS is what it is....
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the President his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, three Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

8. That seems to be the new Management Talking Point
I hate those stupid empty phrases that they all pick up and trot out ad nauseum. "Take it to the next level" and "On the same page" and "Moving forward."

There's no fucking imagination in middle management. :eyes:

21. moving forward, I would like to reimagine our paradigm and think outside the box
Furthermore, we need to downsize actionable terms irregardless of whether it is a low hanging fruit or a brass ring. So, reorganize your output and check your bandwidth.

10. Beats the heck out of, "It's not what it looks like!"
...which is much more likely to trigger violence.

14. Too true
And the less that a person has to say of importance, the greater the amount of fluff with which that person pads his or her speech.

23. Actually there is a reverse form of this
The MBA's are the ones who like to spout the cliches...Us scientists get back by making sure we use every technical/scientific term we can think of to describe the work. Its fun to watch the clueless MBA nod agreeably while trying not to look utterly confused.....

You do know all middle-management types go to secret seminars deep in the woods where they learn all this crap, right?

The sheer ubiquity of these trite slogans boggles the mind.
