1. It's nice. I've never paid $100 for a purse,
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 12:16 PM by ocelot
but if I were willing to pay that much, I'd be happy with that one.

10. I've also found the more expensive purses last longer.
Could be a coincidence but I've been using a Bernini purse for the last year and it still looks like brand new.

I watch for sales and have bought $125 handbags for as little as $45!
Gawd, I love a sale!

13. They really do last longer. You just need to buy a classic look so that
it is still stylish. I have 3 very expensive purses (all were gifts) and I can use them forever. Worth it!!

5. Pretty!
Looks soft. And I'm a sucker for brown leather. But I don't pay big bucks for accessories, mainly because I don't have it. Check with me later when I'm rich and famous, and I might not think twice about paying 10 times as much for that bag. :D

It's a beautiful purse, though - I do like it. For $100, speaking personally, it better be built well enough to last at least one decade, preferably three.

46. I've looked into that myself, because the idea intrigues me.
And I love bags. Bags and shoes. The two things that you can always wear even when you've put on a few or lost a few, lol! But I have to admit I'm not so much of a fashion maven that I would use the service that much. I have spent some fun time browsing that site!

And as far as the OP: It seems a good value, I've paid more for bags. Not to my taste-- I only do black -- but if you like it, go for it! :D

29. I could see myself buying that for the right woman
my wife would have a heart attack if she found out I paid that much for a bag for her, though. She thinks paying $100 for a professional woman's business suit is a lot, though.

I'm lucky that way - I sometimes have a hard time saying "no" to a woman.

36. looks well made...
I'd have to smell it, to be honest, to judge the quality of the leather. Also looks like a style that will be around for a while - more timeless than many out there today.

I don't think there is anything wrong with spending money on 'investment' pieces. The latest, greatest, "it" handbags are stupid to buy, but anything with good design and style that is made well - go for it. I think it is important to own one or two good, versatile 'day' bags, and one or two nice evening bags. There is a definite balance in buying well (which can, but doesn't necessarily mean, spending some serious money) - shoes (to some extent, though when I lived in NY, they got thrashed very quickly), handbags, watches, winter coats. Things like t-shirts, not so much. It boggles my mind that Stella McCartney will ask for hundreds of dollars for a cotton t-shirt. Makes the eco-friendly clothing movement look bad, like your only choices are butt-ugly heavy clunky shoes and baggy, shapeless t-shirts for reasonable money vs. super-high end bullshit clothes that McCartney peddles. Don't get me wrong, I like her designs, but her prices are unfriggingbelievable. Chanel she is not (and even the price of a Chanel cardigan-jacket pisses me off, though I dearly would love to have one, they are so beautifully made and timeless.)

Anway, I digress. I try to do research on the company's policies and practices (social, environmental, etc), and it sounds like you do, too. If you like this company or designer or manufacturer, go forth, lioness, and buy it, guilt-free. And then enjoy it.

Where was it made? How well constructed is it?

I don't think I would spend $100 for that, but mainly because it's not really my style. For that much I want something that screams 'fabulous.'

I paid $79 for this -

Put some weight in it and see if it would be comfortable to carry for an extended period.

49. It looks well-made - but I would get black if I was getting one nice purse.
I wear more black than brown. What I did was get my "nice" purse in a cranberry color, which is actually a neutral - it matches everything except red which I rarely wear.
