1. I saw a Trailer for Speed Racer in the theater
when I saw "The Golden COmpass" with my son.

It looked overly dark and just odd, like they couldn't decide between realistic or cartonish setting.

2. Like the Matrix meets Toontown? Yep.
I'd be into it if it held the original charm and quirks. Many have said that.

3. All of them.
I'm getting really tired of these TV show adaptations and sequel after sequel after sequel! Sheesh, give me something original already!

5. It just shows how bad the economy is...
... movie execs are afraid of trying anything "new" when there is a tough economy... it costs too much to make something that is a box office failure. Too bad those same execs do not understand that something from the past can such just as much (or WORSE) as something new... I'm just glad I don't really know of any of those shows - from the first time or now!

My husband said this is like the WORST movie ever - and Rotten Tomatoes corroborated.

7. At least there is some originality out there.
I saw No Country For Old Men, and There Will Be Blood, Sweeney Tood, and Charlie Wilson's War are all high on my list of movies to see.

11. No Country for Old Men
was an excellent film. I saw it with my husband and his parents on Christmas Eve, and it was even better than I expected. It was another great showing from the Cohen brothers. I loved the way that they depicted the violence... it was neither glamourised nor ignored; instead, it was used to show how the character played by Tommy Lee Jones came to feel that he had to retire. I wish more money was given to "independent" and student film-makers, as all the best stuff I've seen in the past five years has been from both of those camps.

4. A-TEAM - THE A-TEAM RETURN IN MOVIE REMAKE

announced in 2004
http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/the%20a.team%20return%20in%20movie%20remake

and now rumors of Ice Cube
http://www.moviehole.net/news/20080111_ice_cube_in_the_ateam.html

Heard the one about Ice Cube doing "The A-Team"? You should've... it was a main news story a few days back. You'll recall that Cube's been offered the role of B.A Baracus... but no concrete deal has been made yet.

Anyway, Ice Cube was on ''Late Night w/ Conan O'Brien'' promoting his new film, "First Sunday." During the interview Cube mentioned he heard John Singleton was doing a new "A-Team" movie and would love to be involved. Conan did a computer-generated mock-up with Ice Cube as Mr. T - and it actually looked pretty convincing.

This led to Ice Cube joking around and doing some Mr. T impressions. Also, one last note - Ice Cube's hair is pretty poofy, dare I say it's the right height to shave into the mohawk...

And in case you're wondering, Ice Cube doesn't exactly fit the description of the B.A. Baracus I read in the script - that character is a 22-year-old wall of pure muscle.

12. It's an ODD NUMBERED TREK!!!
Aaaagh! The curse of the odd numbers! (I was wondering if it being an prime might save it, but I'm thinking not.)

14. I completely agree
all of the movies listed in the poll will soon be forgotten. This Star Trek thing will be a gaping sore on the metaphorical star trek body for generations (even more so than "Generations"). I won't even bother to go see it... in fact, I think I'll avoid it, until next Christmas when my brother or dad rents it and I watch it drunk and angry. All of us fans should boycott this abomination.

9. Actually, I haven't heard anything too scary about the upcoming Watchmen movie.
So if we're lucky it just might not suck. :P

10. Speed Racer WILL suck out loud.
Watchmen and Get Smart, OTOH, I'm actually looking forward to. Watchmen mostly to see how they pull it off, though.

13. The Get Smart remake equals "Steve Martin remakes The Pink Panther"
I have a hard time pinpointing where Martin lost his "mojo," his edge, his "painting outside of the lines" thing that built his reputation.

He had more than his share of peaks and valleys leading up to the Pink Panther stink bomb, and I wonder what compelled him to do it. He couldn't have needed the money. He couldn't have REALLY believed that he'd re-invent a character that Peter Sellers so indelibly stamped upon the consciousness of the movie-going public.

I've read interviews with Blake Edwards in which he took primary credit for the Panther flicks, calling Sellers an eccentric who didn't "get" half of the lines he spoke. All I know is what I see on film and I think Sellers "got" a lot more than he was given credit for.

That said, who's the genius who thinks he's going to be the new Don Adams? Is it David Spade? Pauly Shore? Carrot Top?

:silly:

15. The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Not because of Keanu Reeves - I actually like him, and think he'll be fine.

But because the first one was perfect, AND the director is a jackoff.
