we got crap hitting the house...
man this is some serious wind we have going down here tonight...nothing HUGE has hit the house, but limbs are blowing out of some of the trees. I would say we just had a good 50mph gust...

MAN! I should be asleep...

5. update...not that it matters
we have about an 80ft poplar that has given way in the greenspace behind our home...it came down and has smashed a bit of our fence and done some pretty good damage to the playhouse-type structure we have in the back yard. looks like i have chainsaw duty tomorrow after work!

6. Yipes :( --- will it at least act to protect the house while it's down, or is it
in a different area?

8. the house is pretty safe...
there is really only one tree that could get the house and if it fell, given its distance it would likely just have the uppermost limbs hit and those are pretty small. i think the main house is good...but the playhouse...well, let's just say i will be recalling some of my old construction days as a teenager doing frame and roof work!

11. a lot of the trees here have been weakend by the drought
so i guess that is what got to it...though we have had some rain in recent weeks, i would certainly not think it was enough to loosen the soil THAT much.

13. i used to sleep like a log...
but now we have three little girls in the house and i sleep well...until there is a sound that is out of the norm and then i am up! right now i head sirens in the distance. sounds like the local police and firefighters may have been called out.

10. You might want to move to lower levels for the night...
if it's comfortable for you to sleep downstairs.

I'm sorry about your tree... :(

12. we are pretty safe upstairs...
thanks for the concern. we DO move downstairs when the tornado warnings are on, though! and i HATE losing trees, they just seem so noble...i lost a couple of HUGE water oaks a few years back and i nearly cried over that...they were so beautiful...
