These were taken yesterday. It's only 7:45 a.m. here, and I'm trying to be quiet while my husband sleeps.... is it true? Is John Edwards really dropping out of the race?

Anyway, hope you like the pics. Didn't get a chance to edit any yet. I'll do that when I get home.

Have you ever seen a white Hibiscus?

The rain won't seem to stop! lol Even when it's sunny, it's raining.

1. Fantastic! The third one down in particular is very nicely composed

We had a white hiiscus in the yard when I was growing up; I always liked it better than the orange version.

8. I think all that green fooled your exposure meter; try under-exposing

a bit. Or, spot-meter just the flower and over-expose by a stop or two. Light objects on dark backgrounds really suck to photograph... :)

We are having a wonderful time. I'm sad to hear John Edwards is dropping out. I didn't even get a chance to vote for him. :-(

Anyway... congrats on your poetry readings. No matter what you say, I think you are very brave to do that. They say public speaking is the number one fear... or is it death?

13. Aww...thanks

Be sure to take some rain gear in case this weather keeps up! We went on the most amazing whale watching trip today...I might post a pic or two in the morning. Or maybe just send them in a pm. Just about to go out again.

Have fun if I miss you before you go!! If you take the road past Wailua Falls, all the way to where it ends (about 4 miles past the waterfalls), there is an amazing little park there. Don't be afraid to drive over the water...it just looks scary! :-)

16. Yes!

And the woman on the boat told us we were her favorite kind of "die hard" whale watchers-- since it was pouring down rain! The sun came out the last 45 minutes or so, though. We saw fins, a breach, two competition pods, a mother and her calf, tails, *and* spinner dolphins!! It was fantastic!! :D
