1. You mean the fried chicken joints?
We should only tax people who peel off the skin.

2. Only if all non-profits are taxed
and only if it is applied to those that endorse political candidates

3. I need a "Other" option.
Property taxes on real-estate (and other non-essential investment) holdings: Yes.

All other taxes: No.

What we really need is enforcement of revocation of tax-exemption for illegal political activities against both NPOs and religious institutions.

8. I'm tempted to agree with property taxes
Especially when a church or non-profit org has a main campus, west campus, suburban campus and/or a gymnasium-slash-recreation center. One local church around here even has a coffee house that's open to the public.

Property taxes are "local" taxes and help with local infrastructure, so I might agree because of that.

I disagree with taxing churches on the income level.

5. Maybe YOUR church is a business
Seriously. Why do people think it's OK to be a dick about religion on DU?

10. Only their activities that go outside the real of what the IRS has defined for them
and a lot of them are pushing the envelope if not just flat breaking out of it

11. No. It opens the door to a bunch of government abuses.
Those that endorse political candidates can and should lose their tax exempt status.

12. I like the separation of church and state too much to start taxing churches
But the ones that are acting inappropriately should absolutely lose tax exempt status.
