actor/politicians: it's all showbiz right?
let's face it, there's a lot of theater in politics. ronnie reagan, a workmanlike 'actor' in forgettable B movies was governor of california and then president for 8 years. his greatest and most memorable role. the politician savior, fatherly, clever, handsome, good with people, smiling, oozing confidence and charm. but it was all an act. even today, potato heads talk about reagan like he was the messiah, calling him the greatest president ever. ron was a lousy actor, but all his supporters fell for it just enough.

reagan never made any of his own decisions, it was an obvious front job. he simply read scripts in his expert way, proving once and for all that the office of president can be occupied by any fool at all.
and now we have an actual neandrathal in the office. proof positive.

and here comes arnold terminator, declaring for governor, with no political expertise whatsoever, other than the fact that he is on the side of evil, opposing all his greatest roles. art becomes life.
and the sad fact is, his fame could guarantee his election. even silly democrats in california will vote for him, because they 'know him'. even though they don't really.

they associate him with virility and machoism. think of how effectively he could deliver buzz phrases on policy. 'it's time vee gave gray davis a total recall!' etc. it's circus time in california. only this is more than just political entertainment, the republicans WANT california so bad they can taste it. they want to conquer california and take it away from all those crazy liberals they think live there. and now they have show biz dynamite to back it up. if arnold terminator can be elected governor of this giant state, and if george bush can be 'elected' president, and we still don't spill into the streets demanding qualified and fairly elected leaders, then, we deserve whatever is coming to us.

Hatch latest to back presidency amendment
By JOAO FERREIRA, Standard-Times staff writer

NEW BEDFORD -- U.S. Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah, introduced a proposed constitutional amendment this week that would allow foreign-born citizens to become president. For one New Bedford resident, this is a victory.
A bipartisan group of House legislators introduced a similar amendment about a month ago.
"This is a major, major, historical step," said Raimundo Delgado, a New Bedford resident who has spent 25 years fighting for such an amendment. "Now we have another front that we were looking for in the Senate side. This guy is the leader of the Republicans. He has been in the Senate for 27 years. He is a very prominent leader."

4. Just remember to bring plenty of money with you
Unless you are from a country of the Eu it is next to impossible to get a decent job. I spent twenty years in europe, 15 with the military and 5 years as a civilian. Europe is great, but for cost of living and being able to afford a house the states is much better. I wont even mention the cost of gas. :)
