So, TX Dems, how's it going?
I've been away from the Board for the past few days, so pardon if this is a dupe.

What's up with the Lege? I know the Senators are still in NM, and that the repugs sent them gift baskets with diapers, bottles, etc. How very charming...

Can they be legally made to return to TX? How many more times can the Guv call a special session? And is this proposed new re-districting illegal, or just somthing that's not normally done? IOW, when is this crap going to end?

TX Dems - Bless their hearts!

1. well...
They cannot be forced to return to Texas.
Perry can call as many special sessions as he wants (at about $2million a pop).
There is nothing that says re-districting is illegal, but it is normally done once every 10 years (like in 2001).

If you want to learn more, take a look here: http://www.savetexasreps.com/.

If you are in Austin this Saturday, stop by the capitol around 11 and let them know you do not want re-districting.

2. Thanks for the link.
What's the feel from the populace? Have they had enough of the Repuke shit, or are they getting offended by the Dems? How's it playing with the citizenry?

4. People either
don't care or don't buy Perry's junk.

Most daily papers (including ones in Repug strongholds) seem to fault Perry for this mess. Every time he says that the Dems are keeping all this other important legislation from passing people ask, "then why won't you take re-districting off the agenda so it can be dealt with?" Most people like their US House Reps, that are why they voted for them.

Also, the state GOP wants to make the state Dems pay for the special session.

We still need to get some people in the streets in order to kill this thing.

6. George Will, of all people, seemed
to take a dim view of the TX Repugs in his Newsweek column this week. And I heard the local radio wingnut yesterday criticizing the Repugs for both this and the CA recall issue. Maybe the times are truly changing.
