1. That can't possibly be legal.
Tell your friend to appeal, and threaten legal action.
Schools get nervous when lawsuits are mentioned.

17. Yeah, it sounds fishy
Until I remember the teacher here in Charleston who wrote "I won't forget my glasses" on the face of a child in PERMANENT magic marker.

7. I should hope so.
If I would be suspended for forgetting my pencil in grade school I'd have been expelled from every school in the region, haha.

8. I agree, there has to be more to this story.
No administrator in their right mind would suspend a kid for three days for something like that.

10. In my school, someone got that same punishment for creating an "Ilike" account for her teacher,
stating in "his" profile that he wanted to "get with the ladies", and then had "him" friend request a bunch of sixth-grade girls.

Thank goodness she confessed right away or his life could very well be over right now.

11. You've got to be kidding.
:wtf: indeed!

When my brother was in elementary school, some kid brought a hunting knife to school and tried to STAB one of my brother's friends. The kid was suspended for just two days. Crazy...

16. This is Chatham Co. GA. They spend time each day checking the kids socks.
Making sure they are to uniform code.

15. At first I gave them pencils
Then, I had them trade something for the class period in order to use a pencil.
Now, if they don't have a pencil (or pen), they have to hustle and find someone who will let them borrow one as I begin the lesson.

However, I remember the days back in the '60s that if we were not prepared, it could count against our grade/points for that day, and if that choice continued, our parents would be called.

But...suspended???? :wtf:
More school money spent (lost for non-attendance) in placing the kid in suspension, and, more importantly, time out of learning, than is worth the punishment.
What's the whole picture here?

18. my sixth grade teacher had a rule that you couldn't chew gum
unless you had some to share with the entire class.

my mom bought everyone gum the next day! it was lots of fun--and everyone loved that teacher.

21. This kind of crap happens every day there.
We are in the neighboring county. Nearly as bad, but not quite.

I am very glad my son's a senior now.

Public schools are getting insane.
