Okay, so I live in the most multicultural city in the world, which is cool...
There's an unreal mix of EVERYTHING. Right outside my apartment the restaurant selection goes as follows. Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Mandarin, Fusion, Mexican, Greek, Vietnamese, Indian, Shwarma, Burger joint.... you get the idea.

HOWEVER, I gotta walk for blocks to get a slice of freakin' pizza, which is the staple of most citie's street meat. Dang, yo.... I want me some easy access to pizza!

4. dude. you are so spoiled.
Making your own is not that hard. and then your life will be perfect! :-)

1. Buy dough at Italian specialty market or regular grocery store. Follow directions on bag.
2. Shape it, roll it out on a floured surface.
3. Brush a non stick pan with olive oil and preheat in a 450 degree oven. ( 5-7 minutes)
4. Spoon Redpack crushed tomatoes on it.
5. Sprinkle grated mozzarella, parmesan on top.
6. Bake to cheesy perfection.
7. Eat.

6. I have tried making my own dough. It's not very good.

And Italian bakeries nearby have it fairly cheap (.99- 1.89) Less frustration to just buy theirs. Our pizza in town is pretty awful. I grew up near Trenton, NJ where the pizza is HEAVEN! I have standards when it comes to pizza. :-)

11. New York City and many places in NJ are definitely pizza heaven
Edited on Fri May-02-08 06:49 AM by TommyO
Folks in other parts of the country aren't eating real pizza, they're eating facsimiles that occasionally come close, but always seem to be missing something.

A recent Wired article discusses this: http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/magazine/16-05/ps_pizzasci

And it's even addressed in Iron Man!

edited to add: Even though I live/work near some of the best pizza in the world, I really do want to try Wolfgang Puck's Smoked Salmon pizza!

12. Boy, do I miss good pizza.
Just the east coast in general is better than most everywhere else. The pizza situation here in Memphis is just dire. I make my own, now.

23. Maryland pizza is lousy
We moved here from New Jersey 18 years ago and still haven't found a single place that has pizza that meets our standards. Ledo Pizza is the absolute pits. Gaah.

10. I live south of Melbourne
About a forty minute train ride away from the city.

I believe our two cities have been up there on the "world's most liveable cities" list in recent times. :D

What I like about Melbourne is that it's so lively and yet I can easily relax. Also the lovely trees lining the streets. And I enjoy hearing so many different languages. The integration of all the people...

I don't know if you know, because you live there, but, Melbourne is increasingly become a noted city around the world. Most people I know going to Australia are more interested in hitting it than Sidney.

20. That's refreshing
There was a nationwide poll conducted and Melbourne came out on top favourably in a number of categories. I suppose I'll change from now on, but in the past when I'd tell people I'm from Melbourne, I'd hold some doubt as to whether or not they knew the place.

Earlier this year I was admitted to the Alfred hospital (perhaps I need not of wrote 'hospital';)) and brought my portable radio in order to ride through the hours with less boredom. One such program I listened to, listeners would phone in and give mention to pizza places they found worthy. There was truly a good number!

Multiculturalism is nice, but doesn't pay the piper when what you really want is a nice slice of 'za! Or deep-fried ravioli.

Edited on Sat May-03-08 01:13 AM by JCMach1
Perhaps it's true for Canada...

Dubai is pretty damn multi-cultural. NO nationality reaches more than 15% (that includes local citizens).

We have 74 different nationalities attending my university.

So, would you like Uzbeki, or Ghanaian food tonight?

22. Nope, it's us, the most mutlicultural
The UN last ratings showed it was Toronto, but our most recent national census, done more recently than the UN, showed us to be more multicultural. Hence, it's us
