Wait! Woah... wha? huh? Cher was boinking Tom Cruise?

Tom Cruise has a few strings to his bow when it comes to dating Hollywood stars, but revelations of a secret romance with Cher stunned Hollywood today.

The ex-wife of Sonny Bono, now 61, confirmed rumours that she had dated the 45-year-old pint-sized star in the 80s, despite their huge age gap.

Cher told Good Morning American today that Top Gun star Cruise was not a Scientologist when they were seeing each other and described him as "just the most adorable man you can imagine".

Back during his Risky Business days? When he was a hottie and before he went all nutso?

Dayum, Cher!

1. Yeah, well, dayum, uh, hey, Cher!, y'know?
Who wouldn't?

On the other hand, I haven't heard who Cher is endorsing. This could make or break my current favorite candidate among the survivors.

17. Her politics?
Cher has always supported the Democratic party. Sonny Bono was a Republican and this was a big problem in their relationship.
Cher's journey has taken her farther from designer boutiques and deeper into activism. She and close pal Lou Dobbs often discuss politics. She has worked for Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and John Kerry. Though she's committed to Hillary Clinton, Cher isn't beholden to Democrats.

"I'm supporting her because I know her and I like her and she's smart and a tough girl," Cher says. "But I don't have much respect for either party. I just think Republicans are worse.

And by the way - Cher never came close to being ugly. She has been "different" often reinventing herself. She has been outspoken for liberal causes and very giving. She is a savvy businesswoman and is in remarkable shape. Cher is funny and provocative. She is strong. Cher is beautiful - not for her outside appearance, which I think is quite stunning, but for her brains. She has won all the coveted statues - Emmy, Oscar, Grammies and Golden Globes... She is no fool and very talented.

4. What? Calling Cher ugly or calling Cruise on his history of beards?
The truth is often mean

6. Presenting your own stupid opinion
as an objective truth. Cher's not ugly. She may not be your cup of tea, but she's not ugly, and there's no reason to jump into a thread to say that other than pure dickishness.

8. Cher is 61 years old?
:wow:

I did not know that.

Well, I kind of did, seeing as I was a huge Cher fan back when I was 6-7 years old (10 years ago) and she was about 50 at the time.

But still. Holy cow.

16. I can sort of see that.
Once upon a time, in his early "Risky Business" years, Tom Cruise was hot. I can certainly see what Cher saw in him.

Now, however, he's not hot. Just a weirdo Scientologist. Which might be redundant.
