Today is 2/5/2008 everywhere but here in the U.S.A. Why is it 5/2/2008
here and here alone?

I don't get it. My little office clock (made in China) reads 2/5 but it does give the temperature in farenheit not celsius. Go figure...

1. Dates are referenced differently.
We say May 2nd. Others say 2nd of May; hence, 2/5.
That's my guess.

3. In Italian, today is il due di maggio or the second of May but they
use the ordinal number, not the cardinal number for dates...

2. Everyone else also accepts the metric system
In everything. Here not so much. I've had numerous foreign friends ask me about it. Can't say why the country is damn pigheaded about this.
BTW, I work for an international company so everything I date looks like this: 02 May 08

5. I hate February
It's cold and sleety. I feel sorry for the rest of the world who are still suffering through February.
