PS that guy, if you know him, get him to see someone about PTSD. As someone who had/has it (never really goes away) he really needs to keep on top of this.

Five years after my incident, I was still sleeping with a ka-bar under my pillow, and waking up screaming.

it is so horrible that our veterans come home with PTSD and it is so often ignored. one veteran that i've spoken with(not the one in the video) said that they were even discouraged from seeking PTSD treatment.

11. Actively discouraged is more like it.
plus to see a psych takes about 6-10 months wait at the VA so even if you file you're going to be living with issues for awhile.

If you're still reserve status, they imply you will lose any benefits if you file for PTSD.

he's been trying to get help because of his PTSD for years now and he's had to travel all over the south to various clinics for it.

the bush admin claims to support the troops and veterans. and then guts the VA's budget.. how is that for support them?

i'm actually his grandaughter btw. us southerners pronounce papa as "paw-paw" ;)

voting, not based upon merit, but upon the good old buddy system. What about the other competitors that have worked equally as hard? It cheapens the award.

the public vote award is just one. as a person who has lost awards due to the fact that it was up to public vote after working hard on my entries i do understand where you are coming from. at the same time, if you take a look around the FYI contest website, you will see there are various awards and only one of which is up to public voting. that is one of the many great things about this short film competition imo.
