Man, so, the most irresponsible of my friends is gonna be a dad
Ritch, fresh off a divorce after a four month marriage, has knocked up the girl he was dating. This is a guy who has never finished a thing, never focussed on an idea for more than two days, and once had his car stolen and torched for the insurance money - AFTER THE INSURANCE EXPIRED.

ANd now he's gonna be a dad.... ruh roh.

1. Poor girl...she'll be alone.
That car torching reminds me of a stupid commercial playing here in the lower 50...people destroying their cars so they can a new one. Talk about irresponsibility...and none of them were SUVs being keyed, drowned, thrown off a cliff, burnt.

2. Yeah
This is one thing he can't walk away from. Some others are saying, "This is good, Maybe this will get Ritch to get his act together"
Fuck, that, cause if it doesn't that poor kid will suffer the effects

11. Well, at least the kid won't be born in the USA
so people will cry and complain how the taxpayers, food stamps, etc. have to foot the bill. I tell you, some US citizens only like embryos.

7. so maybe he needs to be treated for it then
maybe it would help him to focus and settle down and behave responsibly. Now more than ever he needs to get it under control, and if he's really already been diagnosed, then it's not simply a matter of him just buckling down - he's got a brain chemistry malfunction that can be treated (or so they say)

8. sounds like he finished something
 just sayin'

Seriously though, I sincerely hope he is ready to take responsibility for this child. He and the baby's Mom have a lot of thinking and planning to do.
I wish them all the best.

9. The only person I know my age (45) who even has a kid
is a single mother who is a meth head, suicide risk, been fired from every job she's had over the last ten years.

Go figure. You don't have to get a license / permit to have a kid.

BTW she was in the hospital getting about 500 Xanax pumped out of her stomach when they discovered that she was 2 weeks pregnant.

street from my parents. He lives with his mother who, at age 85, is working full time to support him and his 8 year old, who lives there too. This guy spends his entire day out in front of the house smoking, driking beer, and fiddling with his old junker of a car. He has no job and no hope of ever getting one.

At some point a person needs to grow up and start taking responsibility for his actions. In the case of my parents' neighbor, sadly not.

I hope your friend takes this as a wake up call and starts cleaning up his act.

14. There must be something in the air.
We have a similar situation going on with someone near and dear to us. Every time I think about it I feel like I'm going to throw up.
