I just came back from Amsterdam and I loved it!
I loved the beatiful architecture, canals, windmills, shopping, and awesome society. Gay and lesbian couples could walk down the street and people accepted and treated them like everyone else, not as different or abnormal. The acceptance and diversity is something that the Dutch people display constantly. Amsterdam is a place where people from all backgrounds and walks of life can come together in a wonderful melting pot which I witnessed.

Don't get me wrong, The U.S. is doing good in terms of diversity, but the acceptance and tolerance I witnessed in Amsterdam is something which all people should strive to bring into their own lives.

I highly recommend visiting the Netherlands if you have the time and the dough(I'm broke now ;-).)

3. Good for you
My wife and I have some real close friends that live in Middle Beemster, north of Amsterdam we like to visit every couple of years. And of course it helps alot to have a free place to stay while seeing the country.

5. I Was in Brussels in June

Would have loved to take a side trip to Amsterdam with my 13-year-old daughter. We did take a side trip to Brugge in the Dutch part of Belgium, which was wonderful.
