3. I was wondering when it was this year.
Last time I went I would have been... 5 or so? It's been a while.

I just remember that being the first time I ever tried white hot dogs.

5. I love your yard!
All the trees make it look like a very private retreat; like a "secret garden".

12. It is.
I freaked when the house was built behind us, but over the years the trees has made it barely visible. I covet my 'space', I really do.

6. Does anyone know if Lilacs can be forced to bloom?
I don't want to hijack Barenakedlady's thread; I just have to have some lilacs by Sunday to give to my sister and mine don't look ready to pop for another 4-5 days. Would cutting some branches and putting them in water help? Any info would be appreciated.

7. Nice pansies!
I love apple blossoms. My parents hd an apple tree when I was a kid that I just loved. They had to cut it down when I was in my 30s, and it broke my heart.

13. Many apples grow
Yellow and reds. I don't spray so the edible ones are few, but plenty nonetheless. The rest are eaten by the deer.

21. We used to have to pick up the apples every fall
and we'd have to beware of drunken yellowjackets.

16. I wish I had lilacs to smell right now.
I don't have any quite blooming just yet. I have three immature bushes that aren't really producing much yet. I see some buds so maybe in a couple of weeks.

I hope I water enough, because if they die, I'll never hear the end of it.

24. Oh wow--you don't even need Highland Park--you've got your own!
Lovely, BNL!

It does smell nice round these parts lately, doesn't it? Our neighbors have several apple and pear trees on the border of our properties--they smell heavenly!

We, alas, have a decimated yard with nothing nice to speak of (thanks, previous owners, for trashing the place), but I've informed Mr. MG that for Mother's Day, I demand shrubberies! I want to go to the Public Market and see if they've got some apple trees, then go to the festival and pick up some lilacs.

I haven't been to the Lilac Festival in years--got sick of the commercialization--and the crowds--but MG Jr. hasn't ever seen it, so I'm thinking of taking him during the week when the pace is more leisurely.

Enjoy our spring (finally) even if it is too phking cold still! :hi:

29. I'd really like to go but I'm adding it all up
and with gas costs... maybe will cost me about $50.00? and then a motel room
which may be hard to get one at this late date...thinking. I'll check my mail.
Maybe I got a card for Mom's Day with some $ in it! :P But it's to short of a
notice to get there tomorrow to see The Marshall Tucker Band @ 7:00PM
