6,391,000 views on an anti-Oprah video that talks about Ekert Tolle
and the "class" that is going on about spirituality now through pod-casts and on the radio and on YouTube.

I've see over a million views on things that have been up for a long time but over 6 million since March 6th? These people must feel really threatened. The "class" is going on in many countries over the world so there is a much bigger audience than if it were just a US thing but....what?

This is amazing. I am listening to and reading the book, "A new earth" and I am finding it very peaceful and I'm learning a lot about how I make my own dear self miserable and how to change it.

Apparently some people don't like that.

Here is a link to the "anti-Christ" that someone seems to be all freaked out about.

I'm not telling anyone what to believe. I just want to show how gosh darned fucking crazy! this world is!

1. ...and six months ago Oprah was all about "The Secret".
She helped that bullshit philosophy sell millions of copies.

We need to examine all claims logically and scientifically. If we did that, none of these people would be making money from our ignorance.

8. I have been listening to Oprah and I find her very genuine with this book
I don't think she is making one cent with this project, especially since she is broadcasting all the way to eastern Europe and Africa. A free pod cast just doesn't make money if you know what I mean.

And I said it was just my opinion. I've been listening to him and I just find that whatever makes me feel more peaceful....or less furious is ok in my book as long as it does not hurt another being.

The point is, if you watched this video is they are freaking out because what Oprah's class is teaching is not Christianity and the are making her out to be some sort of heretic because of it.

2. hmm.. where do I sign up?
It's about darn time we give up religions that require us to submit to a higher authority. People seem to forget that religion was founded as a way to explain why the sun rose in the morning, why it rained, why there were seasons, etc. To me, the ultimate any person can achieve is achieving personal nirvana; becoming at peace with themselves and the world around them.

9. The second link is the one to him speaking. The information about the
book and everything can be found at oprah's website. But the name of the book they are using for this class is called "A new earth"

3. Why do people seek stuff out to argue about it?
Edited on Fri May-09-08 10:38 PM by MorningGlow
I mean, if it doesn't speak to you, walk away, right? Why attack? Go watch/read/learn something that resonates with you and be happy instead of being miserable and trying to put other people out of their peace.

Fucking crazy is right.

Edit to clarify: Not "you" as in you, Maraya--I mean the people who attack stuff like this.

4. Exactly!
Why does religious freedom only apply to Christians, and why are all other religions false, pagan, and inherently evil? Nobody has the right to question someone else's spirituality, because to many christianity is very crazy. I just cannot believe in a God that has condemned 95% of people that have lived, and will ever live, to eternal suffering.

5. And why do they feel they have to "save" you by insulting you?
Day-um, I'm a pagan/witch, and and ex-Catholic, and I think what the Church has done to Jesus' teachings and his legacy is a crime, but I don't run around shouting at Christians that they're living their lives wrong and God hates them and they're going to hell. Everybody can follow whatever belief system they want to and everybody's going to get to "God" or "Heaven" or whatever it's called in their own way in their own time. Why make a fuss about it and stick your nose into somebody else's business? I've never understood that.

6. where's the philosophy
that states that, after this world, you go wherever you want to go? Why does everyone have to go to heaven or hell (or purgatory for catholics)? We have not yet unraveled the secrets of the human mind, and there may be some sort of conscious power or brain energy. if so, I'd like to think that my conscious will drift eternally throughout the galaxy, waiting for its next inhabitant. I'm a bit of a science-new agagist.

17. Right here, CB
That's one of the reasons I became a pagan/witch--the philosophy is that the afterlife is what you want it to be, at least for a while. Then, when your psyche is ready, you're taught that you're part of the One, and you can stay or go back and be born into another physical body--whatever you choose. That philosophy resonated with me as "true"--but again, I'd never run around telling other people they HAVE TO believe it. It's my reality; other people might share it, or other people might have a different reality. Whatever, you know? (And not worrying about other people's belief systems really does wonder for one's blood pressure, too! :) )

18. I'm glad I reread my post, then!
:)

No, the people who get angry about something they really shouldn't care about are people who feel an alternate belief system threatens their lives personally (kind of the same reasoning that gay marriage is a threat to traditional marriage  ), which I've never understood in the least.

7. I'd take it more seriously if this wasn't from a fundy Christian perspective.
Edited on Fri May-09-08 11:08 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Certainly, it's all loopy crap - it's Oprah. Everything she does is loopy crap, because she's a narcissistic, ignorant, unthoughtful whore to fame.

But it's loopy crap because it's loopy crap - not because it's "unchristian".

Especially when it's condemned by a fundy Christian perspective that thinks a "Department of Peace" is a bad thing.

11. I don't think everything Oprah says is "loopy crap" She doesn't force
her views on anyone. As a matter of fact if I didn't post those 2 videos you probably would not have even heard about it.

I like Oprah. I think she has done a lot of good in the world.

13. Does someone want to go to 6:47 and tell me what they see? I see a cross
and it's not Jesus hanging on the cross. It looks like a person with legs and arm and a black dress or something like that on.

Or I might just be seeing something that is not really meant to be there. But I swear it looks like they put a picture of a person on a cross.

The video ends at 6:54 so it is right at the end.

6:54 You can always start it and pause it while it loads completely and then just move the thingy across to 6:45

16. Well, okay, maybe not *everything* she says is loopy crap.
Individual words - pronouns, verbs, nouns, etc. - aren't loopy crap.

But the ideas she expresses with those words, the way she strings them together - most of the time, it's just loopy crap. Not always, though, because sometimes she says things are merely self-serving ego-boosting garbage. And then there's the emotional manipulation, the pandering, and the sycophantism. Not to mention the condescension, patronization, and barely cloaked (sometimes brazenly brandished) superiority.

So, yeah, you're right - it's not all loopy crap.

20. A New Earth
A New Earth is restated Buddhism, in my view.

It's not "loopy crap". Maybe Oprah's other kicks have been "loopy crap", but Tolle's book is based on Buddhism, simplified and restated.

There's nothing new in his book, but I am glad he is showing people how to relax and stay in the moment, and stop the constant brain talk. The Buddhists call it "monkey chatter" or "monkey mind".

"I just want to show how gosh darned fucking crazy! this world is!"

How true that is. The evidence of that is piling up in epic proportions.

21. I have read both of Tolle's Books
He's a decent human being and I like his perspective.

I don't know if you go to the Astro forum but there are several in there who are doing the classes.

:hi:
