My house has been on the market for a week and we've had three showings.
I've never sold a house before. Is that a "good sign," or is that fairly standard?

Any feedback?

1. In this market I think it's a decent sign
At least around here (NE Ohio) it would be.

2. i don't know where you live or what the market is like wherever you are but
i think that's pretty good, any showings imo are a good thing and getting feedback from the realtors and their clients is also helpful.

3. With all the gloom and doom said by the media, it's nice to hear
that you're getting many offers.

Maybe the worst actually is over.

6. yes. a good sign...
you can never tell from lookers. sometimes it's potential buyers, sometimes it's just folks from the neighborhood wanting to check out your place.

when people are NOT looking, that can be disheartening. how will they offer if they do not look?

but... if people ARE looking, that's potential goodness.

yes, there are foreclosures. lots of them. and the market is down. but you know what? even in these troubled times, people are buying houses. lots of them. a down market is sadness to some but an opportunity to others.

if you have a good property, offered at a good price, it will sell. know that.

i have sold many houses, in good times and bad. i prefer the good times. but the bad can work too.

good luck to you. i wish you the best...

7. What would really suck would be if you were NOT selling your
house and total strangers started to come around to wander around inside while critiquing the place.

All in all, three showings in a week sounds good.

12. Well do not go to that place I mentioned in the PM a while back.
I temped there for a month or so back in their inventory management area... I didn't work in their call center, but I have to say - it was a shitty place to work.

Do you think you could get by doing temp work?

So, yeah — I guess that's pretty gosh-darned good.

The latest one, though, is "hot." :bounce:

15. I've never sold a house before, but I've bought one.
I agree with the old real estate adage: There are three major
factors: location, location and location.

If you are in nothern Idaho, three showings in a week is probably fabulous.
If you live in a fashionable residential district of San Francisco, Boston
or Manhattan, I'd say panic.

19. Guys, even in the places where the housing markets are shittiest...
...like California, we are getting on the market and they are snatched up in a week a week . Existing homes are not just sitting around.

20. When houses first hit the market is usually when you get the most response
Especially, if you've priced it right. I guess it all depends on the market you're in, but I would say that 3 showings in a week means your RE agent helped you price it to get interest.

23. It might
I wouldn't worry until it's been on the market for at least a month, or interest drops to nothing. In this crappy housing market, 3 showings is a pretty positive sign.
