Well, the good news is I am not in the emergency room...
bad news is I sort of drove off the road. My bike now has a dented rim. Took 3 guys to get it out of the brush. Thank god I was wearing protective gear. This is going to take much longer, I'm afraid, than I thought. :-(

4. Thanks aA ...
I feel like such an idiot. My knee is scraped, a bruise on my right hand, and knot on my left arm. But otherwise I'm fine.
Oh, and I've had to endure what just seemed like the longest lecture from my husband. :-(
Thanks for the...... and the kind reply.

6. I'm fine...

it was a sharp turn & I knew I was going too wide.... and I was headed straight for the guard rail...
so instead of hitting the guardrail, I decided to take my chances off road. Well, as you know, my pretty Harley is not an off road bike. I went down the hill...into a bed of leaves and branches... and came within inches of a big tree. Well, when I saw myself going for the tree & realized the bike was not stopping, I slid it to a stop..it pinned my leg under it. That thing is heavy. The only really scary part was when I couldn't get out from under the bike... for what seemed like an eternity.

I got back up and rode home. We thought the bike escaped injury....but after we got home noticed it has a dented front rim-- probably from going over the one big branch on the ground. I'm so mad at myself right now. :-(

If you never fall, you'll never learn how NOT to do it again. :)

You'll get the knack of it KC2.

Rims get repaired, the bruises and scrapes will heal. And you'll probably be a better rider in the long run from this.

23. woo hoo!!
Welcome to the club :hi:

I can tell you form 30+ years and around 200,000 miles of riding that, without a doubt, shit happens. If you survived without any major injuries and rode it home, you'll be a better biker for it in the long run. One thing is for certain, you'll have a lasting impression of the mistake that put you in that ditch.

Shake it off and chalk it up to experience

26. Just do what you are comfy with
I'm glad you are ok!

It is somewhat common for people to lay em down at first from what I've seen. If you are dressed to ride and are sober your odds go waaay up that you'll be ok.

Stay to the country roads for a bit. You'll be fine once you get used to unexpected stuff.

30. Are you riding alone?
I seen that as a problem too. If you are with more experienced riders, they need to understand your "comfort zone."

If they don't, let em go on ahead. Don't feel the need to keep up.

You'll love it once you get used to it. Hec, I'm sure you didnt just hop in a car and keep it on the road all the time :D

I felt badly for holding him back because he is a far better rider than I. Guess I can't worry about that so much, huh (d'uh)?

After a while he'll naturally hold back with you because he'll get tired of stopping way ahead when he realizes you are behind and he is all alone :P

33. Is there any organized motorcycle training in your area?
The bike dealer should know.

Some classes are pretty good at teaching "maneuvering".

Good for you, getting right back on the thing.

I need to look to see if they have another one, I think...
I've been thinking about that. I'm not ready for the advanced course, but I need one for bigger bikes. Thanks for the idea! :hi:
