9. It isn't just that we lost
In the first two games of the series, Lowe and Billingsley gave up a buncha runs early and we hit like palm fronds against a coupla Houston pitchers with ERAs higher than Cheney's blood pressure.

Today we get an early 2-0 lead and Kuroda doesn't give up a hit until there's two out in the seventh. Then the second-best bullpen in the league gives up six runs in the eighth and we lose 8-5. :grr:

Worse, the Snakes got swept by the Cubs, so we coulda made up a lotta ground.

Worst, I fucking HATE losing to the Asspoles. :grr: :grr: :grr:

14. So was our bullpen
And Furcal and Kent and Kemp and Ethier and Loney...

Saito's got the flu, so I think what happened was Broxton figured he'd have to pitch the eighth and ninth, whereas normally he's the eighth-inning guy, so maybe that messed with his head.

It's a classic second-guess now, but I might've left Beimel in after he finished the seventh (he walked two but threw only 13 pitches) and saved Broxton for the ninth. But Beimel's spot came up in the bottom of the seventh, and at that point we were up 3-2 with runners at first and second and nobody out, so Torre pinch-hit Kent for him. (Kent hit into a force, then Pierre hit into a double play, and that was pretty much that.)

16. They're sayin' that in Noo Jork too, huh?
Rick Monday said it a few nights ago. Seems to be the first-half mantra. :)

Yeah, we're only 37 games in, but like I said above, the reasons this has me so pissed off are (a.) we could've picked up on the Snakes, who got swept by the Cubs, and (2.) I fucking HATE losing to Houston. :grr:

Also, we needed a win; it blows to lose four straight at home. And Kuroda deserved the W, giving up one lousy single in 6 2/3.

18. I know, I know
Just before this little slide, we won eight straight and 11 of 14 and averaged eight runs per game. Then for three games, starting with the last one with you guys, we couldn't hit our pants.

I was thinking yesterday, that wasn't the real Dodgers, nor is this. The real one's somewhere in the middle. And, yeah, there's a lotta baseball left.

21. You get bent outta shape over the outcome of a game over which you have NO CONTROL?????
:banghead:

A man in a poor NE Houston neighborhood shot his wife and his three children, all under ten to death, before killing himself with a rifle.

The Curator of the Art Car Museum was killed by a drunk driver at 3 am Sunday morning, sitting in front of his museum, on Heights Boulevard, shortly after the party celebrating the annual Art Car Parade was held. The Art Car Parade was held Saturday morning and it's huge.

And this is all you can think about.

I hate sports.

24. Can't argue with that logic
Y'know, I'm truly sorry that a man killed his family and himself and that another was killed by a drunk driver. But what am I to do about it? Renounce a "meaningless" sport that's been part of my life for 43 years? Should the hundreds of millions of sports fans worldwide do the same? Would that stop the inhumanity, the senselessness, the wanton disregard for life?

You hate sports; I have no quarrel with that or with you. Why do you have one with me?

25. I consider many athletes to have wanton disregard for life.
Example: Football players who try to kill each other, and occasionally do, like tackles causing a broken neck. Many high school players have life long injuries such as bad knees that cause life long pain. High school players occasionally drop dead from a heart defect, or preventable heatstroke.

2. Boxing: Boxers suffer severe brain damage from being pummeled, and sometimes death.

3. Baseball: Beanballs kill, which is why batters wear helmets now.

4. Hockey: This one is a cliche and the butt of jokes about fist fights, punches, broken bones, losing teeth, etc.

5. Wrestling: Wrestlers sometimes injure each other seriously.

6. Skiing: Even skiiers and other Winter Olympians compete in extremely hazardous sports. I once saw an East German woman going down the slalom hit a patch of ice, fall over, skid into the wall, break her neck, and roll down the kill like a rag doll. All this was LIVE on TV. It happened in just a couple of seconds.

7. Car racing - Dale Earnhardt and others.

8. Boat racing - One of the royal princesses of Monaco's husband was a speedboat racer who was killed.

9. Motorcycle racing.

If you want to get into animals the list goes on and on: horse racing, dog racing, cock fighting, bull fighting, dog fighting, rodeos.

Somebody's money is keeping college and professional sports going, and the injuries keep coming.

27. By your logic
Lets give up automobiles too! Cause a lot of people get killed by them..Better not walk accross a street...you might get killed! Nor exeercise either, why you can have a heart atttack or hurt yourself. No baths either..you can slip and fall in the bathtub
:sarcasm:
Your logic is severely flawed. Nothing in life is safe..the only way to avoid injuries..is to live in a plastic bubble.
Hate sports if you like, but your arguments why nobody should like them is ridiculous nonsense.

28. People who do team sports VOLUNTEER for them. Nobody is forced to do that.
They volunteer to get hurt and injured. I refused to catch a softball in P.E. class because I did not want to jam a finger, and I am a musician. Music was more important than sports to me.

I think they're stupid and meaningless. Why people get caught up in that kind of crowd psychology is beyond me. People root for "their team" like the overpaid jocks on the team even KNOW they exist. Ha ha.
They pay money for expensive tickets, beer and snacks, and then act personally disappointed because the team doesn't WIN all the time.

The same as bread and circuses with the Romans -- distraction for the masses and attaching layers of meaning and profundity that are NOT THERE.

It's like going to court -- there are always two sides and one of them will always lose. That's a recipe for failure.

29. Who is bent out of shape?
Sounds like you are because someone dares to care about something that you don't. We can't all be like you Perragrande.

There are a lot of things that I think are meaningless, but that doesn't mean they don't mean something to other people. I would never try to put anyone down for that.

31. Oeditpus Rex has his mood swings.
They are caused externally by whether or not "His" team wins. Like a bunch of overpaid jocks have any connection to the city they live in.

That is one of the stupidest reasons for being depressed or elated I can think of. As I said before, somebody always wins and somebody always loses.

So if your motto is what Vince Lombardi said, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing", then what do you do when "your" team loses? Go kill yourself?

Utterly ridiculous.
