Poll question: Should I Go See Ironman?
I almost never go to the movies. The last movie was Sicko. My preference is historical, period pieces.

Iron Man looks pretty awesome.

Should I just go for it?

1. Mix it up dude
I usually prefer documentaries, but every time I force myself to see something like that, I thank myself for doing it later.

3. Oh, yes. You should.
It has a nice blend of humor, political commentary, and kick-ass action that I haven't seen since Robocop.

It is just one hell of a good time at the movies, and well deserves to be seen on a large screen.

6. Definitely go see it :)
And from what my women friends have told me, they were surprised that they would like it, too. It's not your "typical" superhero movie.

10. I acknowledge that he is handsome
though I wouldn't go out of my way to just look at him ;)

But this is a great part for him and he is a great actor. What impressed me the most is that he seems to have "matured" more as an actor, like he took this part more seriously than any others. Not that he hasn't done well with previous parts (like Chaplin) but there's not much in the way of goofiness, other than "rich tycoon eccentricities" ;)

Oh, one very important thing: Watch the movie to the very end, that is after the last of the credits roll. There is another scene that comes on that is a must-see :)

11. If you were ever a fan of Marvel comics...
...then you should definitely see Iron Man. In my opinion it's one of the better super hero movies of recent years. This is also the first in a series of related films that will be coming out between now and 2011 (Iron Man II, Thor, Captain America and the Avengers to follow).

If you do go to see Iron Man make sure you sit through the credits and see the final scene at the end. It sets up the other movies mentioned above (all of which will be tied together).

17. Very predictable. Quite a disappointment after an awesome build up.
Also, Gwynneth Paltrow is entirely wasted in this movie. Downey has more lively banter with his computer than he does with Paltrow. As revealed in a previous Lounge thread, she did it for the paycheck.

19. I Went Yesterday. You've Got to Be Able to Turn Your Brain Off
To imagine a world exists where:

Rolling Stone magazine would put a weapons manufacturer on the cover and celebrate him, instead of doing an investigative piece about how the company was dealing with "shadowy figures" under the table.

Said weapons manufacturer, the coolest, smartest guy in the world, would have no clue the above was going on.

If you can turn off the brain and remember it IS the Marvel Comics universe, it's great.
