I just had a kickass talk with my Daddy, who's been in the hospital for 4 months...

I called to give my condolences about my Uncle Larry, who died of lung cancer this week. We talked forever, about everything. Despite the hospitalization, he sounds so much better than a couple months ago, and we had such a great talk.

The best part: My lil brother brought his CD player in for Dad to use, and the VA nurses are loving it! He put in his 50s music CDs, and the nurses had a 1950s party in his room. He had a coca cola ice cream float. :D

Also, my Mom is doing really well, despite her ALS. She got the cough assist machine, and that's helping a ton! Tomorrow she goes to the speech therapist, to get the go-ahead for the talking typewriter. And, her overnight oxygen test went well, and she doesn't need the Bi-Pap machine yet. Her next appt is either 5/23 or 6/4, with her ALS team. They rock!

Me too...She's tougher than nails. Even though she can't beat this disease, she's not going down without a fight. Hell no.

In the first few days after I was hospitalised, I think then was the toughest time for my family, especially my brother who thought I was going to die. Quite early on they paid me a visit and brought me a handheld radio and an iPod with some of my favourite music. More than that, though, it was great just to talk.

Over the months we kept up the communications and they were so meaningful. I actually think we learned more about ourselves.

So, I guess I can grasp to some extent how you felt about these experiences.

I myself am waiting for news on my 4 year old niece's sleep study. She snores and gets terrible, terrible sleep and is always, ALWAYS cranky as hell. Hopefully if they can find a way to get her restful sleep maybe it would help her behavioral issues.
