Poll question: All right, baseball fans — it's the first interleague weekend of the season
Tell us your feelings about interleague play.

1. A little of this, a little of that.
I like Cardinals - Royals, Angels - Dodgers, Giants - A's, Yankees - Mets, etc... But the other games are just games. They just serve to remind me how much the DH sucks (or more accurately, why having leagues with different rules sucks).

2. It only works for a few select series
Edited on Fri May-16-08 08:55 PM by KamaAina
Yankees-Mets, Giants-A's, Cubs-White Sox -- and, one would think, Dodgers-Angels. Even O's-Nats hasn't taken off, possibly owing to the vortex of suckitude centered between the two, somewhere around Laurel.

Let me guess: They're saving those for June, leaving us enthralled with random matchups like Royals-Pirates, Mariners-Astros, and the like. :eyes:

edit: caps, plus another bright spot, on the NL side at least, is that occasionally the Yankees or Red Sox will show up in an NL city, bringing the fawning media and sellout crowds along with them.

5. It's a fraud
Lets have the Cubs/White Sox and Yankees/Mets play every year and damn the schedule.

7. It's brilliant!
It gives baseball fans something to be, um..."passionate" about. Good water cooler conversation, something to cause us to throw things that aren't baseballs about the room.

8. Some of the games might work out well...
if it'd stop raining. But personally, I don't like it. Not this weekend (although my Cubbies aren't playing interleague this time), not ANY weekend. I could maybe see a for-fun geographical rivalry interleague exhibition series -- either between Spring Training and Opening Day or during the All-Star break -- but other than that, keep it for the Series. That's where it belongs and that's the ONLY place it belongs.

But that's just my opinion. That and a coupla bucks *might* buy you a cuppa coffee.

14. I'm really a fan of it...
I never thought I would be. I remember when they proposed it and I thought "god damn, that is a stupid idea." It's good for the game and it's good for the casual fans. Baseball needs both desperately. Yeah, the hardcore fans (like Oeditpus Rex) hate it, but they also think pitchers should bat...as if there were anything less fun to watch than watching some guy who picks up a bat 50 times a year flail at 3 straight curveballs right in the middle of a rally. I'm for bringing the DH to the NL.

16. I think pitchers should bat
because baseball has nine players per side, not 10, and because I'm not one to piss all over traditions that are more than 100 years old for the sake of scoring a couple more runs per game.

15. it's ok for novelty
As others have said, having the two local teams play is good. I saw the first Cubs/Sox game held at wrigley, and that was cool. They were really well matched, and instead of people being giant dicks, I think all the fans had a good time, in part, because it seemed more important than just another game - there was local pride at stake (which is why the Cubs won, as they should have).
