Meet Mildred, sweetest girl. Meow. (caption these)
Mildred's ma was feral, so Mildred was born feral. But one day she decided to come into the house, and eventually learned to use the cat door. Gradually spending more and more time in the house, she decided to stay. "Hey. It's warm in here. And there's better food. I'm staying." She really tamed herself - it was her choice; we just let her be. It took a while, but she is tame.

3. Mrs. katzenengel, you've got a lovely daughter!

Did you name her Mildred because she has an "M" on her forehead?

I had a gray tabby kitten I named Molly for that reason, and there's a tom in the neighborhood I call Magnus for that reason.

4. Heh, love that song
I named her Mildred because my grandmother, Florence, was on my mind. I didn't want to name her Florence so I chose the name of one of Grandma's sisters. (It's interesting, how people name their pets.)

I've known that marking to look like an arrow, and have known two people with cats named Arrow.

Look at the forehead of a cat who is not a tabby, and you'll see the same markings in furrows in the fur. :)

hehe, they definitely run the ranges :D

What a cutie. I'm starting to take a liking to the tortie look. I've always been fond of calico.

9. Mildred could be the sibling of our newest addition
Leo. They look very much alike. Leo has this very disturbing problem however of hunting birds and then eating them for lunch on the deck.

11. Welcome Mildred!
You made yourself a good choice. Bertha's a great gal and she'll love you and take care of you and give you a good home. Smart girl!

Great pix, she looks like a feral my sister and I adopted when we were teens (against our parents' wishes and behind their backs). But she turned out to be a cool cat.

khash.

26. I have a short-legged tabby, too.
She was also a stray. She has a little bobtail and she's quite overweight now, so the combination of short legs and hanging tummy place her very close to the ground!

23. that last picture is great - yyyeeeeoooowww - whaddya want??

But isn't it funny how the cardboard scratchy thing NEVER stays inside the box? I don't know how ours do it, but inevitably they're sleeping in the box, with the scratch pad removed and elsewhere.

Mildred's a sweetie. We have a feral male who is taming himself, sort of. Need to catch him and get him snipped, though. Once that's done, I think the transition will be complete. He WANTS to be part of someone's home, but his balls compel him to roam and fight. Not for long

I couldn't have shot a more interesting photo if i'd tried.

Get the snip. You'll be happier. And once snipped he won't mark. That's incentive, isn't it? ;)

28. what is it with tabby cats and BOXES??
My old tabby Chester would have been just where Mildred is. Throw out the cardboard, and lay in the box.

He took over any and all boxes that came into the house. He would try to squeeze into shoeboxes. Put a box on the floor, and he was in it. He would keep several boxes in rotation in the house, and knock any other cat who tried to get in one flat on the ass. My nephew used to tie a rope to a box and pull him around in it like a wagon -- he LOVED that.

And neighbor tabby cat KOKO does almost the same thing.

I laughed really hard when I saw Gertrude in the box.

29. The last pic: "All they found was Bertha's camera, and this was the last photo on the roll".
Mildred looks like a real sweety.

Both our cats started their lives outside. Although neither
came inside voluntarily, nowadays they have ZERO interest in
going back.

I think they're smart enough to realize what a sweet deal
they have inside. Plus, from their point of view, it's their
house and we work for them, so why would they want to leave?
