Mr. Sulu Is Getting Married

US actor George Takei is to wed his long-term partner after California lifted its ban on same-sex marriage.

Takei, 71, best known for playing Mr Sulu in Star Trek, said he and Brad Altman were going through the "delicious dilemma" of where to marry.

The actor and 54-year-old Mr Altman have been together for 21 years.

This is so cool.

4. I met George about 25 years ago ....
He was a sponser of a 5K race through Chinatown in Los Angeles, and part of a gay running club called Frontrunners. He was a friend of a friend. I ran in the race, too.

Very nice guy, huge booming actor's voice.

6. He called into the howard Stern show yesterday to break the news.
Great news!

The callers on Howard's show are known for their abrasiveness, but no one ever says a bad word about George. He is universally loved by Stern fans.

14. George has done a lot of good through his appearances on Stern, imho.
I happened to listen to the show in December when George was on for a whole week. He is amazing- completely unflappable, funny, interesting, smart, dignified, thoughtful, kind . . . just a really special person.
